Factory shutdown for 6 months??? Why?
Discussion
I was in an OPC yesterday following up on a Cayenne order and was told start (back) up wouldn’t be until November now.
A comment was also made about ‘teething problems’ being likely (as is the case with any production line start up) and cars not likely to be available until December/early 2019

DP I spoke to last week said he does not know what the sequence is for builds coming back on stream. Depends on what models get through the testing, and they cannot fully predict that. So for example they might want to do Cayenne's first, but if they fail the testing and 911s pass, then they would start building 911s first.

I’ve been on a waiting list and deposit paid on a Cayenne for over 6 months now and I’m really losing patience as my own MK2 Cayenne has climbing miles.
I was told it was nothing to do with emmisons and to do with false MPG figures. Plus the mission e production line.
I was offered a march build but as I hadn’t seen the car let alone drive it, coupled with the fact it would be a late 18 plate, I refused it. Once I did see it I have to say I’m completely underwhelmed and really moving my eyes to an Audi Q8.
I don’t want to go with Audi but this delay may lose a customer.

Audi have long delays with many models too, so worth checking.I was told it was nothing to do with emmisons and to do with false MPG figures. Plus the mission e production line.

I quite like the look of the A8 as well, the interior definitely looks better then the Cayenne (at least in the pics). But i've never really enjoyed the driving dynamics of Audis. One of the reasons I ended up opting for the Cayenne.I was told it was nothing to do with emmisons and to do with false MPG figures. Plus the mission e production line.

Also if you pop over to the leasing thread you'll see there are huge waiting lists across VAG.
Anyone had any further updates on the delivery of new cars from Porsche? I am waiting on news on the Cayenne as I have an order that I placed in May. I was told when ordering it would be late Sep then Oct then Nov and when I checked in August I was told some time next year!! I am planning to chase next week but just wondering what other people’s experiences/expectations are?

I placed an order and paid a deposit for a new Cayenne in May and was recently told that delivery won't be till 1st Q 2019..Not bothered as our current Cayenne is a family favourite.Lawson748 said:
Thanks. Will keep chasing but can’t get any real commitment on dates.
I am just surprised that the dealers can balance the books with no new sales for a long period followed by very limited sales in the near future.
I'm sure the dealerships can absorb the short term blip. They still have servicing and AUC stock keeping the books ticking over. And they know when the taps open they'll make up for the drought.I am just surprised that the dealers can balance the books with no new sales for a long period followed by very limited sales in the near future.
It's the sales staff who will find it harder to weather if part of their pay is based on sales. It may explain why I had several leave during the process of my last order.
