Hahahahahahaha
Someone is either having a laugh or he thinks he has something that he does not?
There was in fact a Ruf dealership over here and I wonder if his car had some service work done there? My own car has three Ruf stamps in the service book from the early 90's
Nice Ruf sticker on the back, and I wonder how much power it makes from its quoted 25cc engine Must have a HUUUUUGE turbo bolted onto it

I just can't see what it is doing on a fecking L-reg plate.
It doesn't look like the late Turbo SE models, and they'd be on a J or K at latest.
Also, you could get 944s with Fuchs wheels in the 80s, so '911 wheels' is a bit of artistic licence!
I'd agree with you re bargepole, especially at 5k. It's probably only worth 3k tops.

I would'nt even pay £3K for it- left hand drive, with US-style rear bumpers (but with rubber extnesion colour-coded) non-standard steering wheel, illegal blacked-out front windows as well. Very dodgy looking...
The reg plate in theory is just the date of first registration. The car could have been made in 1987, unregistered while Alois Ruf was tuning it for six years, then first registered in 1993.
Very strange occurence tho', so I'd want to see the provenance in all its glorious detail.
As for the fuchs wheels, they were certainly on some 944s, but pre 1988 from memory. If the stud pattern is the same I suppose they'd be interchangeable. (A mate swapped fuchs for cups, so it's certainly the same on five stud 911s... I think the PCD is the same for 944s/911s of a similar vintage, but the offsets etc are different.)

Wgat's the deal with importing cars? Do they get a spare number plate from the year of manufacture?
Well I think thats how it should work, but the DVLA make all kinds of lash ups, mate had a LHD German import early 944lux, but came into UK in 1990 & thus got a G reg!
I love the sellers reply here- "Hi Garrett there are 2 x VIN numbers on the car" ha ha coz that wouldnt put you off 'eh!!
I've got to agree its either a 1985 or 1986 944/951, only Turbo's of this vintage had the correct offset for the Fuchs alloys (all though the stud pattern never changed).
Is it possible it was imported by or at some time sold by the UK's only RUF dealer(apparently we did have a Ruf dealership at one point), hence the badge on the back may have been added as dealership advertising rather than as a pointer to any modifications ?

Seller might not know his Porsche's, but might be completely straight. He states that it was imported from Japan 5 months ago, and names the company that brought it in, so I guess they would be the first port of call for anyone wanting to know more. They would have registered it too, and probably confused DVLA with Japanese paperwork.
Mind you, its LHD and I thought Japan was all RHD ??
