A complete dipstick but locking him up seems pointless. Surely a massive fine would have been more appropriate?

What a waste of police time - I'd like to see the evidence he cites when he says that "Mobile cameras are proven to reduce collisions."

The guy in the car - what a muppet.

Sort of agree but, according to The Times report, the judge said that "it was his duty to pass a deterrent sentence because his actions struck at the heart of the justice system"

He was clearly charged with perverting the course of justice because of his lies.

Nothing to do with his finger gestures.

That just marks him out as an immature fkwit and means no-one will have any sympathy for him.

Traffic Constable Andrew Forth said: "If you want to attract our attention, repeatedly gesturing at police camera vans with your middle finger while you're driving a distinctive car fitted with a laser jammer is an excellent way to do it."

Our 'justice' system is so imbalanced.

You only have to watch a couple of episodes of Police Interceptors, where you see thugs in car chases, carrying drugs etc. and the sentencing is always some kind of suspended sentence, and yet this bloke puts a finger up to the system and gets imprisoned for it?

Wow, the system is truly broken.

If he hadn't thrown the jammer in the river & not claimed he was elsewhere, what would've been the sentence, or indeed the crime? Middle finger is just asking for it & the height of tttery.
Almost worth having cloned/stolen/foreign plates, or indeed, none at all..... getmecoat

I seem to recall reading about someone who got caught multiple times by the same mobile camera van.

After being caught he slowed down and obeyed the limit next time he spotted the van, but as he passed it under the limit he held up both middle fingers.
The camera operator snapped his picture and got him done for careless driving as he had both his hands off the wheel...

Perhaps he also owns a Porsche and parks in bays reserved for the disabled....

Kinda like when the police fail to disclose evidence to the defence that could aquit somebody accused of rape?

This guy is clearly a knob - but there are far more serious issues with our justice system than a guy sticking fingers up at speed cameras.

When will we star seeing PCOJ convictions in cases of withheld evidence.

Based on how they are tweeting about it, the police are loving the fact he has been sentenced to time in jail. The offence was using the laser jammer rather than putting his finger up to the camera van. And it was aggravated by trying to deny it and saying he was 60 miles away at the time.

I assume this must have been a key factor as whilst every case is different, on the face on it this person caught using a laser jammer was only given a two month sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

Are the jammers not flawed in that they always return a null value, therefore indicating the use of a jammer by the vehicle?
