19th rs track day oulton park 8th march
Discussion
Well, the 997 Cup is prepped and we've fitted some cans which aparently make no difference to the noise at all. So hopefully, I'll see you guys out on the circuit!
Oh, and id flat spotted my fronts messing about with the bias when it was wet at Silverstone last year so weve fitted some new ones - but left the old rears on. So oversteer city tomorrow!

Cheers! Cayman R?So I reckon that (judging by today) 90% of Porsche drivers are lightweights that have no interest in driving, only drinking tea and playing a game of 'my spoiler is bigger than yours'.
But I am truly grateful that of all the people that turned up today only about 3 of them went on track which meant I could toodle round on my own having a great time in the wet learning about weight transfer in a 911. I reckon I've done about 80 race and test laps per year of Oulton for the last 10 years in Radicals and single seaters, but none of them in 911s. And boy is a 911 different!
So I had a great day today. Nice to see old friends, thanks to Nick for the exhaust dongle to curb my sharky exhaust and I've learnt a little bit more about 911 weight transfer.
One day I must get someone who knows their 911 arse from their 911 elbow to show me how it's done!
Cheers
Bert

Was ok up until Noon. Then decent rain for about 2hours. Track stayed open until lunch at 1300. And reopened at 1400 after lunch. And stayed open for the rest of the day. I left at about 1630 in the end.
Was a good day if you wanted it to be.
I learnt a a lot about driving the wet line. Had some instruction from Rich Ellis (top bloke) in the wet. Really good. And then got some laps with Mr Rance in the 997 Cup. What a thing. Clear step between a road car and race car.
Thanks to ChrisW also for the Le Mans stint before lunch. That guy can drive and is at one with his GT4. 1.49 G on Pilot Sport Sports on a ‘slightly moist’ circuit. I felt sick for an hour afterwards…... lol.
It wasn’t a fast day due to conditions, but anytime on track is great. And it’s inportant to remember that these cars can be used in the wet also… they don’t melt in the rain!
Was trying out my new camera setup also… GoPro Hero7 and manfrotto super clamp… I worked out spot mode but all my footage was captured in time lapse/time warp mode. So I’m super quick!
Luckily I still recorded with my phone and track precision app so still have some vid and data to dig into.
La Source was up late last night uploading some of his sessions to YouTube… some very good laps in there for a first time @ OP.
Nice to meet Taffy66, Farooq and the spa crew at The Alvanely Arms, top guys.

Always the same there hence I don’t book on it, and decided the 5 hour round trip was not worth a visit, hope you guys had fun, let’s try and get the date moved, for such a big event it’s a shame to have it early March. But been saying that for 10 years to no a avail.Nice to meet Taffy66, Farooq and the spa crew at The Alvanely Arms, top guys.
