Actually totally agree with 991R , 7-8 hour round trip from London ...... shocking traffic around Brum , the M6 , then 6 degrees C and rain . Yes great to practice driving in the rain ...but have spent too many hours racing in the rain at night . But it was great fun meeting and chatting to people .
If it was later in the year yes could still have lots of rain , it is the UK , but maybe a little warmer ...

Just arrived home about an hour ago..What a surreal experience for a total track novice like myself in more ways than one..I don't ever recall meeting so many great like minded down to earth guys in my lifetime....not an ego or 'know it all' in sight..how refreshing..As a novice and my first ever time at Oulton coupled my GT3's first time on track, to say i was totally unprepared both psychologically and physically is a massive understatement to say the least..I seriously need some instruction to mix it with you guys on track.
Luckily for me my good mate Digga sensed my predicament, and correspondingly had not only had to watch his own car but also had to contend with nursemaiding 'yours truly' which took some unwavering patience..What a great guy he is and a damned good driver despite his typical modest self saying otherwise..Many thanks Digga..!
Also a very special thanks to Yellow 491 for taking me out for some laps in his amazing 45 year old 911 RS in the pouring rain..What an amazing car especially in the hands of a truly gifted driver.!
I was blown away by the GT4s on track namely TDT ,Farook and Boxsey, all of which i was lucky enough to enjoy a dining table with on Thursday night..Again all great guys..Watching ChrisW drive his Racing yellow GT4 around Oulton in the pouring rain at astonishing speeds will stay with me for a long time....the guy cannot be human..!!!
Finally another huge thanks to Yellow491 for inviting me to join him and his gang of very merry men for a relaxing Friday evening, dining in the Alvaney Arms..All top guys and what stories they had to tell...Enjoyed the banter very much and hope to repeat it next year..

Really enjoyed it. We were blessed with only a short amount of dry time...but enough to get to know the circuit.
Oulton Park turned out to be a nice surprise of a circuit. Dips and crests, and humps, and narrow, and grass, and barriers(!) and decent speed corners...so I see why they call it a mini nurburgring!

Good to meet a few forum nicknames in real life. Would like to return to Oulton Park again in the summer.

Was ok up until Noon. Then decent rain for about 2hours. Track stayed open until lunch at 1300. And reopened at 1400 after lunch. And stayed open for the rest of the day. I left at about 1630 in the end.

Nice to meet Taffy66, Farooq and the spa crew at The Alvanely Arms, top guys.
Always the same there hence I don’t book on it, and decided the 5 hour round trip was not worth a visit, hope you guys had fun, let’s try and get the date moved, for such a big event it’s a shame to have it early March. But been saying that for 10 years to no a avail.

If you never book on it how do you know it’s always the same.

It’s not, I Been going for the last 7 years and this was the first wet afternoon I can remember. Sure there’s a few damp starts but on the whole it’s been a very lucky event weather wise.

A late spring or summer date would be great, a two dayer even better for those travelling a distance.

TT,its the same old bs from r,out of the 19 meets we have run, from memory 3 were wet!
Its a early starter to kick the season off,low price and sold out,the rain is good to learn your car etc.
Possible next year for a two day event for the 20th meet, may be the tarmac rally track available as well.

Thank you Hunter 66 for taking the time to show me around your fabulous car The colour scheme and the fairly basic spec were absolutely spot on. I've no doubt that if I am luck enough to get an allocation what the spec will be. Thanks again from Rob the Scotsman.

I think anyone dismissing the meet as too early in the year so useless is not an full time inhabitant of either the British Isles (weather) or reality. Conditions are always a gamble and its been pretty much bone dry through February. I know this because I'm a mountain biker (out at least twice a week) so you really do notice these things. Weather you cannot plan. As ever though, the standard of driving and courtesy to other drivers was IMHO exemplary.

Was great to have the chance to help Taffy66 learn the layout of the circuit doing some lead-follow laps after the sighting laps. A good way for me to ease into the day and fun to see someone learning the lines. Impressed with the pace La Source found pretty much instantly and suspect he is not human but cutting-edge AI! Takes cracking photos too.

The real pleasure and privilege is in meeting everyone - faces familiar and new- and sharing the time on track. I did carry on running until about 3:45pm, but I'm not for a second knocking those that did not. Huge thanks to Yellow491 though, because that was a handful of laps I'll always remember and had me grinning like a twit.

I led a group of mates from up north on a 22 mile, 2,450ft elevation gain mtb ride yesterday and today woke up this morning to snow here in the 'shire, absolutely knackered from spending two days doing what I really enjoy. A perfect weekend. Just got to summon up the enthusiasm to dig the car out of the garage to wash it now....

Great day as usual, pretty quiet on track though! Wife and I were sharing her 964, deffo use much less tyres, brakes and fuel on a wet day. Forgot to hook the camera up in the morning but recorded a few gentle sessions in the rain. Hope next year can be a 2 dayer - that would be mega, can count on us to book it if its organised.

Ran all the way to the chequered flag at 5pm - sun was just coming out for the last couple of laps on an empty track.

Great pics .. thanks ! And just one of the very best days for the range of cars / drivers / conversations --- both continued and new.

For me it's one of the best days in the calendar, made in-part by the fact that it is early and it gets the year going !!

A great meet-up smile

Thank-you all !!

Likewise. I was sharing my garage with Taffy66, with Ttdan in the adjoining bit and Taffy said he'd met you in the pub the evening before and I'd meant to come down to your pit and put a face to a name. Next time!

Well, every cloud I guess! Certainly given my Cup 2's a bit more spare wear than I though they'd have. Lovely looking 964 you guys have there.

What really surprised me was the size of the 991RS, especially as it was next to that lovely, yellow RS from the 70’s. It did look like an absolute weapon though.

The speed of the 991 gt3's coming down the pit straight was amazing.
