Aero with track orientated mods, in my humble opinion hugely enjoyable and more capable than given credit for.

Sorry, the Arctic Silver aero kit brigade turning out in force now...!

Really interesting to hear the opinions and comparisons of those of you who have been lucky enough to have sampled 996 C2 and GT3 and of course an RPM car.

My own is "lighty" modded in terms of Bilstien B8 dampers and H&R lowering springs, modified Geo settings plus a few other bits and bobs which slide the compromise a bit more toward the "Fast Road" end rather than track the more comfort orientated set up the car came with. (On the same road as Jethro's video was taken)

Question for Richthebike if you see this....

Love the Fuchs. Do the lighter wheels make a discernible difference to ride / handling? I love my own Genuine GT3 MK2 Style (Tequipment supplied) wheels but would like to know if lighter would be better?

Oh yes, the lighter wheels made a big difference. The steering is lighter and more delicate.
Clearly, less unsprung weight is beneficial, but the single biggest improvement is the delicacy.

Definitely agree that lighter alloys do affect how the car feels. I had 18 inch OZ Alleggerita wheels on the 996 which I think are the same as on Jethro's car.

lovely car well done you. For the occasional "just popping out for a quick drive darling" there is probably no better 911

That looks lovely....really, really good and better than I would think Fuchs would look on a 997. Interesting what you say about what the wheels have done to the steering, money very well spent!

Cheers Richthebike and Heathrow

Interesting to hear, delicacy suggests accuracy and a lack of inertia. Sorely tempted. Got any pics Fastbug?

OP - Definitely try one if you can. There are other powerful coupes for less money, like a 350z, or BMW M3, 130i, 135i etc but a sorted 996 just feels special at any speed and despite owning one for 3 years now, I feel I still unlock a little bit more every time I get to have a "Fun" drive in it.

Anecdotal I know but black aero kitted 996.1s seem to be thin on the ground. Great looking car in black.

Edit: just noticed the GT3 badge!

Thanks. 139k on the clock and used all year round. It could do with having some money spent on the interior and I know it'll need manifolds sooner rather than later. It's good fun though and I can fit the family in it which helps, the kids love it smile
