Hi everyone,

Can anyone help me with a few Cayenne S questions?

I’m considering placing an order for a new one...

1. I’ve read comments about residuals being poor but this doesn’t seem to be backed up in the adverts I’ve seen. On a £82-83k car, what realistically would I lose in 2 years and 12k miles?

2. What colour options are there? The configurator online lists some but these are fairly limited - the only ones I’d consider are mindnight blue and basalt black. Are there really no greys? I saw a Macan in Quartzite Grey Metallic which I loved.

3. Air suspension, worth it or not?

4. Sports exhaust - there are sports tailpipes on the configurator but I wasn’t sure if this was just cosmetic or actually affected the sound?

Any other tips very welcomed. First time new Cayenne buyer (I have a used 2012 Cayenne now).

Many thanks!

I've had a new model S since last April, one of the first in the country, and have now done over 5000 miles in it. Given that production was halted a couple of months into the run, and they've only fairly recently started to build Cayennes again, I expect residuals will be pretty spectacular right now. In two years time you'll probably take more of a bath though - probably losing 30k, so a good reason to keep it a bit longer when the curve starts to flatten out.

I have air suspension and rear axle steering on mine and heartily recommend the air. It's very comfy in the default setting, but not as wallowy as comfort in the previous model, and even the middle sport setting is plenty compliant enough for Britain's roads. In hindsight, I'm not sure the RAS is that useful, although it does make the turning circle a little tighter for car parks; if I was spec'ing the car again I'd probably go for the active anti roll bars (PDCC) instead.

Colour selection is dire, yes, and I'm not sure paint-to-sample is even an option (if it is, it would be very expensive). Mine is moonlight blue metallic, which looks almost black, but has a nice blue sparkle in bright sun. it looks good with the standard chrome trim and polished 21"spider wheels, but the radar for the active cruise looks a bit rubbish if you have the chrome radiator grill.

I love mine. There have been a few teething troubles with the infotainment and connected car aspects, but I've been lucky compared to some of the other views on here. Fortunately if you order now, for delivery later in 2019, they might have sorted out more of the software bugs by then!

p.s. No sports exhaust available for the S as far as I know. The sports tailpipes are cosmetic only.
