Sorry, are you saying a 997.1 GT3 is the same pace as a 4.0RS? weird.

Also, you do know the tyres will be totally different in that comparison and the delta much smaller on same tyres. But yes the latest car is quickest.
no the gaps about 30 seconds from the 997.2 4.0 RS to the 991.2 RS also, so about a mile behind on the ring.

I think in my humble opinion that the Cup1's on my 996 GT3 were better grip wise than the Dunlops on my .2 RS ( although the Dunlops are much better in the wet) , I cannot really feel the RWS , but the big difference in my feeling is the firmer springs with less roll , little more like a race car , and yes the power , there is now 140 more BHP , more than the 993 GT2 R .

As far as the ring is concerned, the track itself is now substantially quicker than when the 7.2rs nevermind 7.1rs set it's time. No one ever runs a back to back test on current cup2s with a pro or at least consistent driver between the cars. The 991s are quicker obviously (they had better be given all the electronic gubbins thrown at them) but exactly how much quicker is not obvious. Quoting decade old laps to compare them is laughable.

looking at the track layout and length, a 10 second gap between a 997.1GT3 and a 991.2 GT3 it isnt realistic. There are a few corners where the 991 diff will have an advantage and the power increase of the 991 will have a decent advantage also but theres nowhere near 10 seconds there if both cars were driven by a 911 specialist on the same tyres. I'll tell you what. I'm happy to race anyone who has 991.2 manual on any circuit in the UK and if there is 10 second advantage to the 991, the owner gets my car..... and if there is less than 10 seconds advantage, I'll get thier car. Hows that? sounds fair.

As an aside, if i were to buy a 991.2 GT3 (not an RS), it would be a manual in guards. Lovel car as a daily

there is 2.4 seconds from the 991.1 PDK to the 991.2 Manual though, that's a massive gap also given a PDK is faster on track.

lets not also forget the PDK cars have e-diffs, the manual car in the test does not have the E-diff and also has less RWS angles, it's a much more basic setup in the manuals cars, not just the lack of PDK.

which goes to show the new 4.0L engine to gain 2.4 seconds on the 991.1 is massive.

Substitute the 997 for a Micra and you may get a few brave souls to put their heads above the parapet hehe

That is astonishing that the 72 car can have such higher cornering speeds than the GT3. How does that happen?

Well it's definitely extremely nicely set up - that corner where he keeps accelerating into it is quite interesting.

Weight. A modern gt3 is a fat heavy thing that's gained a lot of speed on acceleration vs an older and far lighter car.

Bert its far from a 72 car!,sounds better than the gt3,also cant compete on weight around corners, great to see another car well developed over time.

It’s got a Wing on the back of it that makes a GT2 RS look shy...that would explain the grip he can generate in the corners combined with the weight difference

Yes, Jack Olsen is very well known in US Porsche circles.

About the car, on Petrolicious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gC5-MoDUuRg

Also a good video about his garage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHqixjMXAbo

laughlaugh Love it.

Go on then, I'll race ya Steve. I've heard you're one of those trackday tarts.

Can someone lend me their 991.2? Don't worry, this one's in the bag. evil
