That is absolutely stunning..If i ever actually decide to get one this is the exact route i'll take..I neither have the patience or the engineering nous to even contemplate paying for a modded or restoration myself..
From reading the posts from real experts on this thread it seems Tuthill is the default choice..For me personally it would have to be based on a 1972/73 911 2.4S and end up some shade of green..The first Porsche i ever sat in was at Exeter OPC exactly 40 years ago was a Viper green 911 Coupe..I've wanted one ever since but have only ever bought modern Porches but the longing is growing stronger..
What to start with depends on what your build brief is. If it is to gently fettle to acheive a fairly accurate RS rep or something historically based then starting with an S makes sense as the engine, brakes, suspension, etc are a good start points as the S has the right bits some of the lesser models don't. But if you are going to fit something like a 3.5 or 3.2 short stroke, big brakes, coil spring suspension then an S is a very expensive base for essentially the shell and other shells can be had cheaper.

Well I had first proper run out in mine this morning (got up early for it...).
Great little thing, and reminds you what proper driving was like.

Also Tuthill built, and bought from a friend (on here from time to time).
Had been fully sorted mechanically, added front lights, fuel and oil fillers, ST rear arches, and Momo wheel. Plus new seats...
Engine fully rebuilt with 2.7RS bits plus bespoke exhaust. Tarmac rally spec P7s really do give a lot of grip and I was surprised how well it handles, as well as the sound.
Nice to drive hard, feel like you’re going fast, and working for it, but still be not far off the speed limit.

Very nice indeed, like the tartan (assume your clan), doing similar on a more modern Porsche.

Like the idea that it feels fast at sane speeds, fun without risking your licence too much.

Yes, an intra-Scottish transaction in the end.
Tartan still ABs!

Automfarm backdate ST replica - ex JK. Doesn’t look right to me especially because someone has used a sunroof car to base it on! I do like the look of some of the ST’s with the rear Minilite’s and from Fuch’s....don’t know why because I think it would look crap on most cars having different wheels on front and rear axle. Although they are among the most iconic wheels designs ever.

Another name I’ve seen mentioned a few times on other threads Rennsport....although can’t say their cars do anything for me. Like PS or Oshe they seem to be trying to do the Singer thing by “building a brand”...but none of them have get anywhwere near pulling it off visually at least for me.

Some lovely cars on this thread.

Also agree about some of the fit and finish on some of the back dates. Quite a lot of them are awful, for the money being charged it's not good enough. I can't see how they look at the finished product and think, yeah few gaps here and there, but it'll do confused

Speak to Paul at Tutts, or Richard. Drove Kermit and Olive, and plumped for Olive, just a fantastic car.

So you must wear special glasses when you drive this Rob, to make it look a different colour? smile

Rich, how did you get on, have you turned your car into a hill climb monster yet? Have you purchased some fine string backed gloves?

Morning Andrew; first stage fettle commences Tuesday at CG.

Re gloves ; I have them in already, I’ve been collecting them in various hues from an early age, each one specifically tailored to match my P O R S C H E Martini racing regalia. smile

Internally definitely not. Externally I don’t like the fake Fuchs....don’t know why they just don’t work for me (the PS cars have similar wheels). And the wing mirror....for some reason that looks great on a Singer (because it’s better made/engineered I suspect)....just doesn’t look right on that car for me. Fussy bugger....

Agree - like the flared rear/ front wheel arches, the ride height and the fuel cap though. smile

Internally - what were they thinking, it’s vile frown
