Spare car to carry on
Before the 4 day 800 mile tour brittania,which was circuit raceing ,tarmac rally stages and hillclimbs ,two pristine st ready for the event,the green st we had scruted just in case!also we planned to tow it around the event as a endless spares package as the plan,which did not go to well at the first event which was snett in the wet,we did win the event the year before.
The bitza at the front stalled,the lwt etype went into the back of the bitza,and i scooped the etype up.The damage was not structural,just wing,bumper,bonnet and one front cooler.
Better than the last time you took him and maca out for dinner,i did warn them not to play with the big boys;)i ended up putting them to bed!

We’ve had some amazing laughs and some amazing headaches on the morning after over the years, more than we deserve mate.
Should get the old gang back together have seen Russ and keep in touch.
Life’s too bloody short not too.

In terms of ride fettling : CG are doing this for me; no input from me, just let Chris look at what was already there and he’s adding what he thinks is appropriate to improve handling for good road (not track) dynamics - I’m hoping this is a good start to the journey any constructive comments from anyone are most welcome ;
He’s doing the following ;
Schedule
Remove rear torsion bars and then replace with 26mm rear turbo torsion bars
Fit front strut brace
Remove and fit 2 x rear Bilstein dampers
Fitting and balancing of new tyres (Pirelli P7 cinturato tyre 205/50/15 & 225/50/150)
Chassis tune
Remove and re fit 26mm rear turbo torsion bars
Fit front strut brace
Remove and fit 2 x rear Bilstein sprint dampers
Preload car with weight
Tyre data check and adjust
Ride height check and adjust
Re index rear torsion bars
Corner weight check and adjust
Geometry check and adjust
Corner weight re check
Customer test drive check and handover
Before and after tyre report
Before and after geometry check and report.
First thing i would do is junk torsion bars and fit coilovers all round.He’s doing the following ;

Strut brace only required if you have plastic front wings.
If you want grippy road tyres,go the khumo route like all the hillclimbers use.
Now thats caused you a dilemma
My only thought is they don’t fill the arches as they are a smaller tyre than my current tyre - (current top image, Khumo below.)
As such, he thought I might prefer a Michelin Tb5 : bigger tyre but still sticky - what do you think ?

Khumos are great tyres better than p7 and tb for road,alot of friends hillclimb on the khumo.
Tb5 great historic track tyre,used to race a lot on them,but they would probably cause you to have messy trousers in the wet on a highway.
Khumo you could run a med or hard back and a front med or soft compound.
If you are a poser go p7,but if a driver go khumo

(Seriously thanks for the reply - will let you know how I get on on the Khumo tomorrow)
Edited to add : I love the look of the TB5 and the fact they’ll fill the arches better - are they any worse in the wet than the MPS2 cup tyres on a 991 GT3 ? It’s a fair weather car rather than a daily and as such, I’m not saying I’d never get caught in the wet, but it would be very rare ?)

Khumo is the better all round tyre wet or dry.(Seriously thanks for the reply - will let you know how I get on on the Khumo tomorrow)

Tb5 are temp sensitive,no water clearing tread,they also have a very soft side wall,just like a f1 tyre,but on a 911 they settle in during cornering,ie they move/roll intially then great grip once the side wall has loaded.
The tb 15 is better for wet and dry,i believe they have started doing two compunds for the tb 15,one is verys soft for full wet.

Thanks , I’m hoping the Khumo will look better in the metal than in the photos I’ve had - it just looks too small for the arches - maybe it’s just the angle and in real lie will look fine - I hope so as it sounds like the two variants of tb tyres, although they will fill the arches better, are compromised Tb5 are temp sensitive,no water clearing tread,they also have a very soft side wall,just like a f1 tyre,but on a 911 they settle in during cornering,ie they move/roll intially then great grip once the side wall has loaded.
