Sorry went away but needed to come back!

WHOAMI or whatever your called, how on earth can you say that the wheels are "Tacky"! (Can you tell I am Angry!!)

Have you got SH*T in your eyes or what. please does anybody agree with me here or am I going mad!
(I cant believe I am actually contemplating putting the Turbo wheels back on)!!! someone convince me otherwise please I love the Rial Racing.

Calm down young man, it's only an opinion.

You like them so that's fine. I just prefer the standard Turbo wheels.

ps I don't think I have any shit in my eyes

Your intitled to your opinion, but the way you went around it was damn right insulting and rude, the guy has just bought the thing.

John, the wheels are superb, the car is beaut. Congratulations!

all the best

I did say that the car was lovely, which it is.

The wheels are not for me. John obviously likes them as he bought the car - that's what matters.

I wasn't overly taken with his response either but I'm sure I'll get over it.

Nice car. Wheels are NOT tacky, look spot on.

Can I ask did you test drive a manual and tip during your search? If so can you go through the potential pros and cons?

I've driven other semi auto cars and they have been very different ie BMWs SMG box was great others not so good. Wondering what its like on the 996tt

Cheers

Outstanding.

The wheels are a dangerous aesthetic with which to meddle but in this application, I reckon you have rather speared the bullseye: a delicious feast for the pork fancying eye.

Don't like the wheels either. Looks like they've fallen off a max powered Supra.
Glad you like them though.

I think the wheels look great - really set the car off.

Plus, when you're at a Porsche show next, you'll be able to find your car, whereas most of the other turbos will look alike...

Don't think the tip would do it for me, but i haven't driven one. Drove the M3 SMG and was very disappointed.

Wheels are awful! But, being the nice chap that I am, I'll take them off you for the price of some new turbo wheels, hell, I'll even fit the new ones for you.

IMO, some of the very best wheels I've ever seen on a Porsche. The car is awesome! Congrats!

Morning Deep,

To answer your question no I didn't test a Turbo in manual but I have got a C4 in manual so probaly knew what to expect ie that it was going to be a hell of a lot faster so decided to go straight for a tip and boy am I glad I did, I use the car nearly every day so having a Auto to me made sense driving it around town and stuff but the kick down is astonishing and when you switch it to "M" I actually prefer it to a Manual, OK you haven't got a clutch but I like the quicknest of the change, and the smoothest, As for pros and cons as I said personally I am now glad I have chose the Tip for the reasons above but if you have the car for weekends etc and just want to drive it hard then stick with a manual.

Hope this helps Deep.

Morning Peter T

Yes you are absolutely correct it is a carbon fibre steering wheel, an expensive option at £800 ish a pop, but lovely to hold.

Cheers Peter

Verysideways,

I understood and believed myself that the Tip wasn't even close to being as good as the manual but having drove it I was lets say more than impressed, hence I bought one, please do not compare the M3 SMG to the Porsche Tip it is in a totally different league, a colleague has got an M3 SMG and when he changes down or up if feels like the car is going to through me through the front windsreen because of its clunky change. the change on a Tip is beautifully smooth.

Cheers

John,

I guess i'll have to try one sometime!
I am gonna pop to the OPC at some point to get a drive of a GT3, maybe i can drive a TT tip as well...

By the way, if you ever decide you can't bear the wheels any more, will they fit my 993tt?

John, I do hope you're paying these comments no attention at all. I'm heavily biased in favour of 19s (as you can probably tell), but as someone else has already pointed out they make your car stand out nicely from all the others.

OK so maybe some of the aftermarket wheels aren't right for everyone, but as long as you like them then thats' all that matters. I for one think they give it that little bit extra and give it the T in Turbo!

Love the wheels .. not too keen on interior.
I have been trying for over a month now to get a Tip 996 TT at the right price and have already decided that when i do i'll have cargraphic racing wheels on it.
Anyway in my travels around the various websites looking for the right car i am sure that came across this one as i remember the interior (i think?) Not from a main dealer?

Colin,

You wouldn't have come across this car as I purchased it off my boss as he upgraded to a 996 Turbo S

Hi John.
When its in M mode are the up and down changes suitably fast not to interfere with driving? I thought the SMG was actually good, agressive but excellent for spirited driving.Changes were almost instantaneous ie no pause while it hunts for the gear. Is that also true of the tt?

Many thanks
Deep
