Whilst clearing out my mum's attic the other day I came across my old back catologue of Autocar's going back to 1994 and 1995 (also some favourites going back to 1987). I noticed I've got all the roadtests for the P993 variants including RS and Turbo (but excluding Turbo S) and if anyone's interested I'd be happy to scan them and send them a copy.

Cheers

Not a Porsche, but my Dad recently bought a Aston Martin V8 coupe (non-Supercharged). We've been trying to get back issues for it from Autocar to no avail. Is there any chance you could see if you have it in one of yours, I think it was circa '96?

Be a great help, they don't supply them before 2002

OK, so it's 993 Carrera (I don't think it's called a C2) and Turbo.

I've also got a Performance Car issue, which compared all the variants together (again it must have been pre-Turbo S so this is excluded). I'll scan this as well.

Sam, I'll look for the Aston V8 roadtest, chances are I might well have it as well.

Dan, I think it's the pre-varioram(?) roadtest, so it's 272bhp model on test. This OK?

My heart's starting to ache for a 993 C as well. I read the manual roadtest last night (after spending 3 hours sifting through them all), I think you'll like it. I think i've also got articles on the tiptronic box.

Autocar awarded it 5 stars out of 5 (they used to only have a maximum 5 star rating).

Got to be manual for me. Not because I actually have anything against the tip (never having driven one, I can't do) but because it'll be a weekend toy and I'm looking for a car I'll want to keep forever or until we can't buy petrol any more ... at which point I guess it won't be saleable anyway ...

So I'm looking for an "iconic" but reasonably modern 911, air-cooled, coupe, manual, rwd (unless its a tt ...), etc..

Hi,

No its just called (confusingly) the V8 coupe, which replaced the Virage in '96.

Quote:

"After the ending of production of the Virage in 1994, the company only offered the Vantage and Volante cars until the range was augmented by the addition of the new V8 Coupe, introduced at the Geneva Show, 1996. At a casual glance, the car looks like a Vantage, to which is owes much; a tamer version without the superchargers. The car features Vantage style front and rear, together with a chrome mesh grill and surround plus a less overt front air dam incorporating two driving lamps.

The end result of the work was a better looking, better performing update of the Virage. The 32 valve engine is an unblown version of the Vantage unit producing 349bhp and 369lbft of torque give the car a claimed maximum speed of 'over' 155mph and a 0 to 60 time of a mere 5.9 seconds."

Note the 'faired-in' headlights.

Thanks

Sam

ps. looks like you've opened a can of worms here! Thanks for the help.
