I think its the other way round for the Taycan Nelson! Many have cancelled after seeing it as its a small car with a not so good range. I know 6 people who had deposits but have backed out now!
I've configured my upcoming 4S with the Performance plus battery and 20'' wheels to get the longest range possible..Fitting the bigger 21'' wheels on a Taycan really hammers the range so avoid at all costs IMO..Taffy66 said:
I've had a £5k deposit on a Taycan Turbo since launch day last year.A couple of weeks ago my OPC phoned me to say that they'd just been informed by Porsche AG to expect a 12 week delay on deliveries..They don't expect Taycan Turbos until 4th Qr 2020 and 4Ss 3rd Qr..I've switched to the 4S with the bigger Performance plus battery which is more than fast enough..
I was told last week 4S deliveries start May/June ! Officially confused.

A friend and I were told at the UK launch event in London last December to expect 180miles on a 4S (with performance battery plus) in the winter and not much more. Summer will see around 210 miles at a max. This was from a Porsche GB employee who tested the cars in Malaga last year. PrancingHorses said:

It’s only an inch shorter than the Panamera. They were averaging 210-220 miles range despite being absolutely hammered all day in Majorca. I’d be surprised if many people dip below 190 in the first year of ownership on a new battery.RSVP911 said:

I have my name against one at the end of the year....want to see and drive one first. Only electric car I have been in is a London cab!
Keep the Macan and put the money saved into a good AC - I can’t believe this car will be anything other than a dull daily - sorry NelsonM3 said:

Keep the Macan and put the money saved into a good AC - I can’t believe this car will be anything other than a dull daily - sorry I'm very convinced when people see and sit in them on the launch events demand will increase..It'll make a great daily and a perfect partner to the polar opposite NA Porsche sports cars..Another big plus is the sense of pride when driving through a busy congested city with awful air quality with the knowledge you're not contributing to it..Social conscience will become the new norm while city polluters will be treated with contempt..

Are all the factories that make the individual components which are just bolted together there though?
I've been told most of the components are made by elves in a secret factory in the North Pole. Then delivered by a flying sled drawn by reindeers with a white bearded man wearing a red suit driving..Can't imagine what gave Porsche that idea but sounds really ground breaking and original.Apparently this factory is usually shut from Xmas to Autumn so seems like a very shrewd move for both parties.

Pre reg car cancelled order
So, one assumes the original purchaser would have lost his deposit - which at this stage would have been 10% of invoice price - so OPC would still be getting full purchase price. So not really a discount as far as OPC concerned. playing with words maybe but this does not indicate that "times are bad" simply a desire to shift pre-specced stockPrancingHorses said:
There are a choice of 5 cars available - times are still bad lol
That may paint a different picture but last year was a nightmare for deliveries as many models were suspended from sale for a considerable time due to emissions testing. I understand that OPC's then had to try and make up for these earlier "lost" sales and were in a position of having to take a significant number of vehicles as "stock". This was a very unusual situation since the majority of Porsches are built to order. It was inevitable I guess that some of these "stock" cars would hang around for a while and I suspect that this has given rise to a small number of cars now being available with discount. Porsche had a record sales year last year so I would argue that times are not that bad !! Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
