There are a choice of 5 cars available - times are still bad lol
That may paint a different picture but last year was a nightmare for deliveries as many models were suspended from sale for a considerable time due to emissions testing. I understand that OPC's then had to try and make up for these earlier "lost" sales and were in a position of having to take a significant number of vehicles as "stock". This was a very unusual situation since the majority of Porsches are built to order. It was inevitable I guess that some of these "stock" cars would hang around for a while and I suspect that this has given rise to a small number of cars now being available with discount. Porsche had a record sales year last year so I would argue that times are not that bad !!
Pretty much every manufacturer has recorded a record sales year every year for the last 5 to 10 years. The difference is last year Porsche at least in the UK has to pre-register or discount cars to get them sold. You just have to look at the number of delivery mileage cars available across the whole range to see that they are having trouble shifting cars. I don’t think it’s just down to production issues with deliveries...there are currently 145 Approved Used 992’s on the websites....so each OPC has 4 or 5...plus demo’s and new cars coming through. That’s a lot for such a new 911 which hasn’t even been on sale for a year.

Two years ago the two biggest selling cars in the range were the Macan Diesel and the Cayenne Diesel....that’s one of the big reasons why they have so many Macan’s and Cayenne’s to sell....petrol 4x4’s just aren’t as popular.

I think its the other way round for the Taycan Nelson! Many have cancelled after seeing it as its a small car with a not so good range. I know 6 people who had deposits but have backed out now!
Agreed. I cancelled my Turbo S order this week. OPC wanted £15,000 non-refundable to lock in my spec but couldn’t give me a build date. I’m not paying that for a car I haven’t even seen or driven yet.

amongst other things, the ever increasing production delays and total lack of fast charging infrastructure in the UK are killing the Taycan for me.

I got a discount on a factory order 718 Cayman from my local OPC, Colchester. I'd never bought anything from 'em before, so no existing relationship as such. I had no trade in and took their finance. In advance, I wrote down exactly what I wanted spec wise and in terms of the number; I factored in an optimistic 10% discount. Walked in at 5pm on the last Monday of the month; gave my scribbled "deal" to the Sales Exec (who had lent me a couple of cars) and said I'm ready to buy the car now. Initially he dimissed the offer, but he took it to the Sales Manager and eventualy we settled on just under 8%. Previously they said no more than 2%.

Not saying I'm a brilliant negotiator. Likely more lucky timing, but if you don't ask.
The key words there are “took their finance” - that’s the route to a discount.

It’s called “finance contribution” which is not available to cash buyers.

That would be called “dealer contribution” which is separate from “finance contribution” which can only be accessed by using the dealer finance package. HTH.

The last time I bought a car there was a pretty straightforward conversation. “If you take finance we’ll give you £x discount” . The only condition was that I couldn’t pay off the finance within a month,

Same here although i was told six months and not one month. Apparently there is a tapered commission payback involved which expires after the sixth monthly payment..I think this is accurate as i paid off the finance on my GT4 after the fourth payment which resulted in me receiving an awkward phone call from my OPC's Business Manager.

...but you would have received a massive discount on the GT4 for taking the finance package...biggrin

This - I was offered £,000’s BELOW the WBAC offer on my GT4 when I was looking at trading up to 992C4S. Which would have gone on the forecourt with a £20k uplift.

I hope Philip is still enjoying my old GT4

May have changed then...that was over a year ago. Did seem amazing to me that they got full commission if you only kept it going for a month. Guess VWFS stopped the games !

Just wondered whether anybody has recently got any kind of discount on a Cayman GTS 4.0?

£2k off an Oct-20 order, delivered in Mar-21. Back then it was £1k off for taking finance + £1k off the 718 range.

Good luck, I hear their order book is pretty full at the moment so not sure how much leverage you'll have to get anything currently

Thanks. At the moment i am getting 1.5% so about £1200 off. Likely delivery early 2022. Doesn’t seem too bad given demand for cars is high. I cannot seem to get anything for taking the finance deal.

I went through Coast2Coast originally and they couldn’t honour the 4.0 prices claimed.

That said maybe things have changed now and I’ve successfully used them before and really recommend them, so defo worth a go.
