Looking to free up some noise from my 991.2GTS

What’s the best way to go about it and I suppose best sound for buck? Not looking for drone or anything too loud / over the top. Can be a mod also

Anyone have any experience?

It just seems like a bit of a minefield, as it’s relatively rare to be able to hear one and make an informed decision. The Kline stuff seems to be the only one that declares itself as a bit special on YouTube videos. Perhaps the SharkWerks, Akrapovic, Remus etc are very good, but it’s just a bit difficult to find the evidence to support the assumption.

Thanks Chris. Maybe it’s my phone but doesn’t sound massively different to stock. My last car was a 981 spyder so I’m looking for something more fruity but not quite as loud as that.

Are there no mods to be done? Cargraphic downpipe sounds good.

The problem with most of these video clips is they are recorded on tiny mic’s on an iPhone and then played back on a crappy speaker on iPhone or tablet. I haven’t heard a Sharkwerks on a 991.2 GTS in the flesh but I’m assured they sound a lot better than stock (doubt as nice as a 981 Spyder but I would say that!). And they are easily reversed back to standard unlike some of the other options that remove the OE cats.
Decisions decisions....

I'm selling a carbon tipped Akro with carbon diffuser from my 2018 991.2 GTS. Cost in excess of £6200, I have the receipts. Fitted at 300 miles (documented on the receipts), the car has now done around 1100 miles so the exhaust has covered less than 1000.

Looking for £4300.

Message me if interested.

Do you prefer your GTS to the Spyder minus the noise and would it feel underpowered if you were to go back to it? Any regrets selling?

I have a full Kline system in inconel on my 9e tuned 991.2 Carrera T. Including manifolds and 200 cell cats. Sounds superb for a turbo car.

You’re right. It’s difficult to know and they’re massive money too. I’m looking for a more cost effective option. The Sherkworks seems decent vfm compared to most though.

Very kind of you to message but it’s just too much for me. It’s great quality stuff though. You get what you pay for.

Two very different cars. The spyder had buckets and no roof, felt more like a go kart and was loud as hell. Too loud sometimes but a lovely thing. I’d previously had two GT4’s so I’m well versed in the 981 platform. Great cars although I preferred the GT4 on its GT suspension and cup 2 tyres. I can put the kids in the back of the 911 and I also missed those hips. It’s my fourth 911 now.

In terms of performance, im a fairly fast driver and I live in rural wales so I get to exercise them properly. The GTS is just a very fast car and with pdk and normal sport seats, it’s more useable for the winter and practical. It’s in Graphite Blue too so it’s a new colour to me. Really like it. Getting to grips with rear wheel steering at the moment. My GT3 didn’t feel as noticeably direct as this. Just something I think I’ll get used to as I drive it more.

Needs more exhaust though!

I believe you could get the Kline rear silencers with sports cats for <5000 if you go for stainless rather than inconel alloy. It wouldn’t be as light, but you’d get the sound and performance. The tuning potential would also be increased.

The Akrapovic is almost 5000 just for the rear silencer and you’d be looking at another 2000+ for their cats.

As you say, the simplicity and relative value of the Sherkworks could be a winner. I’m sure they’re likely to offer sports cats and 3:1 manifolds as well if you want the full setup.

Hello, I might be interested in your exhaust system, but not the defused. Where are you located and could I come and hear it?

Or alternatively I used the website via my phone and instead of sending a PM it ended up on the website.

So not lazy at all... More technical incompetence which I'm not sure is better, but thanks.
