Just watched the first 3 episodes. Compulsive viewing actually. Are they really intending to give him a full works drive alongside the likes of Kevin Estre?
Probably not in the same car, I guess.
Definitely not GT Pro with Estre/Tandy etc but GT racing has plenty of Am categories and that's what the category is built on after all.

P.S I'd say 'a bit of help and luck' is a massive understatement!

Actually I can see him racing for Patrick Dempsey. Not sure how it would work marketing wise for Porsche but a very cool partnership nonetheless.

Jackie Chan Racing a step too far perhaps biggrin

I've seen him driving a 991 GT3 RS around Nurburgring on the Manthey track day and his pace and style are stunning.
Guess there was quite a queue for passenger rides!

He was fully booked up, 449 EUR per lap, all to charity, apparently: https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-gt3rs-and-911r...

Credit where it's due - Michael is pursuing his dream, he's got the right attitude in that he's a sponge absorbing all that he can to capacity & he's competitive with himself.

Sure this is obviously a Porsche promotion, but all the same it's great that the haven't polished out the "human" side.

Fassbender speaks German, the team is German, his engineer is German. Why is the film in English?

I'm glad it is, as it's a good watch and I'll be watching his progress with just a touch of envy smile .

Last week's episode was at Spa, always worth a watch anyway, but it was an interesting one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7gMRbNOP7c

Did I see somewhere that there is a limited cinema release of this too, perhaps this Friday?

The Chris Hoy documentary (200mph at Le Mans) was on BBC4 last night. A similar format following Chris Hoy preparing and racing at Le Mans.

I enjoyed it and could see that Hoy was not a shabby driver, and seemed to hold his own with the other, more experienced drivers.

That team principle (Stewart Cox?) was a bit of a nob though, Maybe that's what it's like in the personality driven world of motor racing, but I really don't think I could ever work with or for him in any capacity, I'd be doing something particularly career limiting.

His comment to Andrea Pizzatola "well, you won't win anything" was a terrible thing to say.

O/T he's a big Porsche fan too.

I was driving my GT3 through Cheshire earlier this year and a grey 991.2 GT3 coming in the other direction flashed his lights and waved "Hi" as he passed:

Nice one. he was driving around in a GT-R in this show, big connection to Nissan and their driver programme.

He's definitely 'one of us'; a Porsche nut.

I was on the way into Sports & Classic for service and I asked them if they knew the car. They'd done some work (not sure on this or previous GT3) fitting a sports exhaust IIRC and they confirmed who it was. (And of course there's photos and videos of the car which, retrospectively, are easy enough to find.)

I think he may have chopped this car in for a new RS now though. Anyway, seems a decent bloke.

What a great final episode! Absolutely fantastic camera work throughout. I actually flinched a couple of times at those near misses that MF avoided! Definitely a lot of skill displayed there rather than just luck. He came a long way as a racing driver during that series IMO. And a great advert for Porsche motorsport too.

LOL - RMA day - so passing on both sides - I saw he was quicker in my mirror (only by virtue of the extra 140HP btw..lol), so left the door open and he could choose what to do.

RMA day - makes sense.

Yes, that's the true track day spirit then. Like it. I never want to hold people up, or bully others out of the way.
