Personally I’d reject it as the quality of application varies hugely....depends who is fitting it and whether you can see what they have done before. Badly done PPF can look awful as the edges trap dirt so it makes washing the car harder and you get lines of dirt so you need to wash the car more often.

I suggested a service as it’s not cheap and is something you definitely need.
+ 1 PPF can look really naff if not carried out correctly

I'd suggest having a look at the approved used stock - there is a sudden rush of brand new, pre-reg cars, which have obviously been building up as they waited for emissions approval, come to dealers. They are all the same high-ish spec, and depending on how you play them off each other, you should be able to get at least 12k off list - I just did on a Cayenne Hybrid Coupe. Are you getting that off your order?

Just cancel your order, and buy one of these smile

for example: https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/Cayenne-EHybri...
Wow , that's got me thinking.
I'm seeing a (almost) exact configuration - registered this month as a 'demo' - if i can get the same 12k off, that'll be 9k saved.
I got a 2k 'discount' which is built into a part x plus almost 1.5k for a 'price freeze' to 2019 rather than 2020 price; this is for a custom order from 15months ago!

Only difference i guess will be 24months warranty vs 3yrs, & couple of specs difference (eg mine was ordered with spyder alloys).

i'll lose another 3k off my deposit.

A used car will have the balance of the 36 month new car warranty from date or registration or the 24 month AUC warranty....whichever is longer.

You walk into an OPC now wanting to buy a “nearly new” Cayenne you will get an amazing deal.

Looking at it now, but the demo prices all seem to be jumped up by 8k, ie adding all the options listed, the price shown is 8-9k more than it should be. I can't quite figure this out.

That one has a set of WInter Wheels and Tyres with it so maybe that explains the higher price ? Give a few OPC’s a call tomorrow from the various dealer groups and see what they’ve got.

Some dealers are listing this pre-reg stock at list, some are being realistic at up to 12k less. Lots of identical cars with a very wide spread of prices. You will get a great new car, with 2 years and 11 months of warranty left. There are cars in the system that aren’t even showing - some with no mileage, registered in Dec. Great time to make a deal. Just get on the phone and start asking - I’m sure you can do even better than I did.

Yes, that car you link to isnt far off list - 20k of options more or less, and the winter wheels are 4k, but it’s not a strongly priced car. I think you will get one similar for 80k

FWIW - I just took delivery of a new Cayenne S And the dealer discounted by getting on for 10% as the car was a pre-reg model held within the dealership chain. Actually undercut price of used similar spec car with 1500 miles on it from a rival dealer. Apparently they are sitting on too much stock. I went looking for used but deal was too good to resist.

Hi Chimi,

Would you mind sharing the dealer or would you prefer I email? I have a Q7 in order but they’ve all been stopped by Audi and it doesn’t look like I’ll be getting it anytime soon, hence the talk of cheap (relatively) Cayennes is off great interest.

Thanks

Yup it’ll be no difference. Although I think your OPC is being economical with the truth....they want the car registered in 2019 because of performance bonuses etc. If they’ve agreed a price they have agreed a price....they can’t change it based on whether you take delivery within a few days.

Porsche GB wouldn’t be getting involved in when a single specific car is being delivered.

Been a tough year for OPC’s scrabbling to get sales booked.

I'd second that, they want to get the sale in by the end of the month and year.

yes, i agree.
however, i couldn't think how to challenge that; i did raise with the overall business manager, phoned him etc but he just re-iterated along the same line.

If its going to increase by £1800 id wait for March 1st as only 2 months away and your car will be worth more with the new reg on?

1600miles on the clock, pre-reg early nov but lost my deposit (£3k) for my order from last yr. £7k discount, & quite close to what i originally wanted. The blue is actually closer to black in real life.
Would have preferred 21" spyder

I'm sure others would be able to get far better deals, maybe leaving it till last few days of the year, particularly on the coupes. Loads of pre-reg on forecourt.

Nice car....our S Diesel is Moonlight Blue it’s a really nice colour but then I would say that !

Amazing really I wonder if you’d have ever gone down this road if the OPC hadn’t told you you needed to take delivery this year.

i was amazed at how many pre-reg 992 & cayennes were on the forecourt; actually most were highly spec'ed.
A guy got £12k off the former whilst i was there; i was v envious.
Obviously deals to be had.

You did ok though , always someone gets a better deal possibly, but at the time you were happy with the deal you did.
