If you can get past the "it was a 60k car new and will cost x percentage of its list price to run each year" and putting aside the obviously hefty bills for fuel, tyres and brakes.

What are they like to run as a daily family wagon? It seems the Turbos are fairly reliable although I've not seen a mage mileage one.

Nice cars, they drive really well for a 4x4 and are plenty fast. Loads of common issues on all Cayenne's and Touareg's, they are likely to hit you in your wallet. If you go and view any have a good feel on the bottom of the door cards, the carpets and check down the sides of the boot for water ingress.

Replace the oil in the Transfer Box immediately (and every 20K max) and use good engine oil (e.g. millers NT+), as they can bore-score.

It's the later Cayenne that has issues with transfer boxes

Ah okay. I would still put new oil in anyway; really cannot hurt.

Talking of transfer boxes my 2017 Cayenne S Diesel has had it’s replaced this week, 53k miles. It’s a great car but I wouldn’t run one without a warranty....mine’s been to the dealers twice on the back of a low loader (immobiliser and suspension) as well as the transfer box.

I bought a cheap 07 4.8 Turbo around 3/4 weeks ago.

Enjoying it so far but quite a few niggles to sort out.

I have an 54 plate car. My old mans had an identical one for 10 years so it made finding one quite easy as i could compare like for like.

It flew through its MOT and the guys at 9e who look after my gt3 have just been through it and there's only a few tiny things.

Key thing for me is buy one that has been maintained with evidence of it.

I regret not buying my bosses one at the time - an 04 turbo (in 2014) black in and out, SS exhaust, coolant pipes done, 70k, £9k he wanted for it! Bought a diesel Evoque for £30k instead and wonder 6 years on which would have cost less factoring everything in!

I may be the only one, but when I pick up a 'new' car I get all the fluids and filters changed very soon after. At least you know where it's all at.

I do the same. Differentials, gearbox, transfer case, everything.

Then I do the same every 20K miles.

Engine every year, using the nectar of Millers' angels :-)

Peanuts compared to repairing any of those parts.

That wouldn't be RA56 OAP? I had that car from 2017 until early this year. If so, feel free to mail me if you think I might be able to give you a steer on the niggles.
