Fair point....lightness costs. But imagine a factory car minus 150 kg....they could charge an awful lot for that car.
I was alluding to this on the other 992 GT3 thread -

I think this is the key point… what are people buying it for? If track… you already know the RS will be further ahead again.
But this new 992 GT3 looks like it will be more ‘butch’ than 991.2 RS… and we’ve already seen the 992 RS looks like a manic thing.
The whole speed war is throwing up some odd responses.... and for what reason, really?
Performance cannot be used on the road and most people will be scared to track because of the risk/expense of running.

Manufacturers need to have a rethink, or are they just pushing the boundaries before ‘the driver’ is outlawed.

Be nice and £280k :-(
I think they could sell 200 of them for £250k in this country. 992 is wrong platform though...too far past the point of no return.

Very little camo left, in any!

Really not a fan of that rear end, no design cohesion at all. Senna-esque rear wing is just a mess. Lower section with too many diffuser strakes then a horizontal carnard of sorts, topped off with a totally unnecessary recessed lower section looking like it has been involved in an accident. I'm not normally one for being negative about cars and don't mean to come across that way but really just find this way too fussy.

Now where is that picture of the 904GTS, that is a thing of beauty!

You mean one of these not the modern interpretation of one.

Yes since the 991R both the .2 gt3 and rs has some kind of excuse for a rear diffusor with some stuck on plastic bit with fins at the rear but not exactly what one would consider a working diffusor with long ramp angle as there simply isn't the space for it....

I remember seeing one of these for the first time at Silverstone Classic .... such a beautiful car.

And then seeing a picture of a single person holding the body shell ...

I'm still waiting for the DTM photos myself...preferably not taken at a dealership and maybe with a custard pot too.
Some strange face in the rear qrtr glass reflection.

That’s true of so many cars now - Mercs, BMWs, Audis, Ferraris......bigger, fussier detailing, styling for styling’s sake, ugly grills....

The most beautiful cars in the world are usually the simplest designs.

One look at the latest fugly designs from the likes BMW Porsche and Mercedes in particular merely unfortunately confirms aggressive fussy and increasingly ott styling is currently the norm as this sells cars in the short term at least.

It is these very cars which will inevitably date the quickest and look the worst in a few years time.
