I met him once over a coffee.

Seemed like a nice guy. We didn’t talk about values, polish or contrasting stitching once.

Blimey - well to be honest I don't read most of the threads, Porsche or otherwise, unless they are about older cars, driving adventures, or threads about kittens or happy smiley people.

I don't know where to start. I'll get back to you in a few weeks?

Wondered what had happened. Will be missed, thought he was much nicer than our other Mr. Know it all...

Wish PH had a mute user button.

Literally going to a polish restaurant next week as it goes, Blue Barbacan in York. Can't see the harm discussing that but will do so in the restaurant thread if that's OK

Didn't he borrow your car and then wrote an article about it???? Must have been a strong coffee.

I for one am glad that, even with the departure of Cmoose, PH will still meet its sniping and bhing targets this month.

Handbags all around!

Finding the "evidence" isn't so easy now his content has been redacted, but rest assured, there's plenty on here who got increasingly fed up with his combative posting style, and many of them have chosen to vote with their feet over the years.

Just as Steve R did, I allowed Jeremy behind the wheel of one of my cars for the day.

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Jeremy wouldn't have been aware of it (that's the nature of the beast) but I did so in order to present an "olive branch" after several years of "online hostilities" with him. And let me make it clear, it was me who elected to grasp the nettle and bury the hatchet with him.

I didn't find that day in the passenger with Jeremy driving particularly easy. Truth be known, I found him intense and hard work, but worse still, I found his behaviour behind the wheel of my car (and I'm not what I would consider to be precious about my cars) disrespectful.

After the second or third time of his bouncing the engine off the rev limiter, I suggested that perhaps a more measured approach using fourth, fifth and sixth gears would make for progress that was just as quick, if not quicker, and would be more relaxing too. But no, he continued to drive in precisely the same manner all day. Again, the nature of the beast.

Far from being someone familiar with all manner of performance cars, he appeared more like a kid with a new toy, either that or there was an agenda I wasn't party to ...

I'd thought that having handed him such an olive branch, we'd move on. And whilst things were more harmonious for a while, the old Jeremy resurfaced, and ultimately I found myself having to make a point of avoiding his acerbic posting style altogether.

As I've said previously on this very thread, his technical input will undoubtedly be missed, but his combative, overarching and unseemly posting style won't be.

Yeah that's a shame really, and as I stated before I have mellowed a bit recently and sent him an email as a similar 'olive branch' to try and bury the hatchet & appologised for all the conflict much of which was down to me, as I felt it was disruptive on here and off-putting to me posting and probably others too. He never responded to me and I didn't notice much if any change in his approach to me. For me, if someone, anyone, makes a sincere apology or gesture towards me, I make it a point of principle to respond positively to it as I believe it to be right, so was disappointing if not entirely unexpected that he chose to ignore my contact. Your situation sounds like a total nightmare & a waste of time and petrol money.

ETA There's some irony in your story as he used to cite being invited to drive other PHers cars as some form of evidence of his normality.

Like everything in life, chalk it up to experience, and move on. Quite frankly, life's too short to waste time on such nonsense smile

I agree wholeheartedly. Showing no respect for someone elses vehicle is also beyond the pail

Sums it up slippy, had a couple of run ins with him, desperately tried to avoid him.
Most of his so called knowledge gleaned from mags and porsche press releases,if he was truly some sort of journo for a porsche mag,god help us with his rude/arrogant/opinionated replies, the ultimate was calling a Professor a fool !
As said it will be a better placesmile
