Ah you remember it too huh.
Nuts how its commanded £130K since its last purchase - even though I notice a few changes - I think its have a good proper detail and made it look all shiny and new. But imagine if the seller realises they have paid £130K over list a year ago?! Fair play to the seller though.

I told you all it was a steal at the time and nobody listened to me, bar the lucky owner who has made £130K on it.

Different car … there are two similar (both selling)
The one mentioned, and just sold was previously with Maxed Paige and latterly Cottinnem
In fairness Julian, you’ve recommended and hyped up some absolute howlers too .... smile
That is true.... you could say I have a good eye for the really great and really bad ones. beer
Different car ! There are two similar looking ones that have both sold. No way on planet earth was this one ever £70k It was previously sold by Jeremy Cottingham and before that, Maxed Page
Google and you will see and notice differences. I viewed this particular car prior to its U.K. registration and it sure was a stunning thing

Yes it is a different car. I bought the Bonhams sight unseen during lockdown.

It had almost no history when it was sold. Since then I have been able to trace the previous owner in California and now have the history, including the Official RUF BTR conversion in 1989, the engine rebuild 30,000 miles ago and the service history. I took a punt on the car and I was lucky to have been able to trace the car's history. there is also not a spot of rust on the car.

I have spent about 11 months and £20,000 getting the car to where I want it and it has been a great experience. I now have a 930 3.4 BTR for what feels to me like a bargain price.

It is strange that in the service history often does not end up with the car in the US. Not sure why.

But Julian was spot on when he pointed out the potential uplift in value when I bought the car at Bonhams.

Ah its that one! Apologies all for the confusion, but yep like you say the one you bought was an incredible score....that was like a half price car you got there at the time. Did you get that number plate I linked you to at the time? I think that is whats confused me as the other one has the same kind of plate.

Not quite the bargain a 9643.6/BTR3.8 would have been at that price but still outstanding! What a steal. beer Also think a picture is in order!

The commission rate has just increased from 5% + vat to 6% + vat .... making 7.2%.

I think that's quite a chunky increase ... since I know dealers who will work on less ... and do more in terms of preparation and ensuring that a car is up to scratch. On the other hand, maybe they will also need to increase their charges ?

Possibly the sell-through rate has reduced, if a car doesn't sell they make nothing which I guess explains why they ask for realistic reserve prices ?

Certainly I have noticed rather more "reduced reserves" and it will be interesting to see what club membership benefits there may be. After all, we are all car nuts !!

7.2pc is quite a chunky fee

Only worth paying when the car incl fees can be bought below CAP trade price imho

With zero rights as the buyer, CC only makes sense for bargains or some kind of super rare car that rarely ever comes up for sale

I spoke to a Porsche dealer at the weekend who shared their prep costs with me and it’s not uncommon to do £5k on a combo of cosmetics, tyres, brakes and warranty… easy to forget that when you see the “lower” price on CC (conveniently always shown minus fees)

Has anyone managed to get CC to remove their data? No matter what I do still the unsolicited emails keep arriving. If they don't take any notice of GDPR I suspect they don't take much notice of anything else to do with customer service, or privacy.

I've mailed them, used the message form, amended 'how I receive emails' etc.

Blocked their domain but I'd like them to erase the information, as they are obliged to do if requested.

Aiui they have 30 days to do it. If they haven't they're already in breach of gdpr.

Just had an email saying I'm removed, hopefully so. I had requested months ago but doesn't matter at least I got a reply.

How does the maths work here?

Sold for £128k when commission is added.
Now for sale (reserved) at £130k
Shirley it’s not worth the risk taking into account the prep costs and possible after sales costs.

Any ideas why this GTS hasnt generated many bids? Had one 10 years ago and this looks tempting to get back into.

Perhaps the notion of different colour paint at the front is putting people off along with the curious phrase of "offered in impressive, highly original condition"?

Cc do nothing to protect buyers, once they have your card details and you made that winning bid they are taking their fees no matter what. Good car bad car it makes zero difference.

Good knows why people pay retail money for cars off Cc with zero buyer protection.
