I was following a 997 turbo on there (white cab), checking the prices etc...but then it just vanished. It was coming to the end of the auction and then gone. Not in the sold section or anywhere. Is this something that can happen? If perhaps the car is listed somewhere else?
Sorry for the basic question
If the auction finished with reserve not met then it's unsold and the listing disappears. There's no way to search for previously unsold cars on the site, but you can usually find them via Google as the listing page is still there in the background.Sorry for the basic question
Was it this one? https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2008-porsche-9...

The paintwork has been in a ware more like, wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. I take it, you must have to prep these cars yourself before they sell for you.
I think CH has Ti22 look after his cars periodically as he's mentioned in the past although he's very open about "using them properly" which includes hauling his much loved pooch around & he looks to treat all his cars the same way - whether he's had his car "prepped" for sale is another matter but I'd bet they've at least given it a light detail to remove the usual crud his seem to have in his videos. Good grief. I bet there'll be morons who'll pay more for a car with 'celebrity abuse' and 'celebrity dirt'.
Call me old-fashioned, but my definition of a petrolhead is someone who thrashes the car one minute, but looks after it properly the next.
Don't you lot agree that these 'rare' or difficult-to-obtain cars should be treated with more respect, cars that people-who-can't-borrow-200k would dearly love to own, doubly-so as the last of the ICE cars?
Or is it ok that just because you are rich you can treat 'goods' without a care?

I love seeing them used. What switched me onto 911’s after TVRs were the legendary stories of ex PHer Lonman thrashing his 996 GT2.
That said, if you’re owning on balloon finance or PCP, you’d do well to consider the exit point of that ownership. Ignore at your peril. I only own cheap stuff, so I can afford to enjoy/maintain/fix properly and have no such finance concerns either.
Overall, I’d rather see them used than polished and stored, mileage and value obsessively monitored.

Its a car ffs, paint can be repaired,no doubt he has enjoyed those 6k miles, its his car to do what he pleases, and good of him for that, the leather interior could be more difficult to repair if its gone through the colour,i see they cant answer the question on the interior yet.
Exactly that, his car to do what he wants with. WTF you’d adjust the use to preserve for the next owner is quite beyond me. Digga said:

Agree 100% - I didn't say polished and stored, what I said (for the benefit of Mr491 and MrRSR) wasme said:

...is on a totally different level to preserve it for the next owner.Or is it ok that just because you are rich you can treat 'goods' without a care?
How about just not trashing it for the next owner? Is that acceptable?
It's all very 'cool' to say I want to leave the car totally worn out, on fire and full of used condoms when I die... but I'd hoped the world had moved on from such nonsense.

I was accused of being wreckless and crazy with this, but they are meant to be used and sometimes abused.

If it were me I’d have spent a few hundred £ getting a detailer to whizz over it with a DA and treat the leather and plastic trim but again, his choice.
It’s not about leaving it worn out it’s about enjoying the car to the max, whether that’s enjoying driving with your dog, tracking it, spanking it on road trips whatever. These cars are very durable mechanically after all keep them serviced, get the paintwork tidied as and when and repeat. That’s what I do and the car looks great.

I've lost my audience, as they say
I'm all for thrashing a car, but I do that with more than half my brain thinking about preserving petrolhead-desired ICE for the future, 'cos otherwise the future doesn't seem to have a place for petrolheads.
Has anyone registered 'electronheads' URL yet? No, because there won't be any people joining.
