The Collecting Cars Porsche thread…
Discussion
New to the thread. Maybe it's just me, but it feels like a decent percentage of the cars on there seem to be, well, a bit pants.
Big service gaps (without a corresponding SORN), Cleary evasive answers to the questions.
I think if you've got a car that you simply need to sell and its got a questionable period in its life, its ideal.
That's quite an interesting set of cars to go alongside some of the genuinely rare and special stuff that seems to also appear on there.

I certainly think that CC is a place where unusual and quirky stuff gets sold. Some of that is of lower quality. I don't think everything is by any means.
At the end of the day it is still an auction site. You are always going to get a mixture of lots on there, and they are desperately keen to try and make sure everything sells, by trying to give some low reserves to list cars for example. I think I will list my car on there when it comes to sell it. https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2013-porsche-9...
Whilst a little bit up on miles, we seem to have a nicely spec'd Cayman S available here.

Almost identical in spec to mine - I don’t have PCCBs but do have extended leather (interesting to see a car specced with almost everything that doesn’t have extended leather). At that mileage I’d be curious to see how it goes. They’re god for it but I know what 60k+ cars tend to list for. CC does however continue to be a bonkers place to buy a car on this sort of mileage without a hefty description of work carried out and a PPI. If it hasn’t already been done, it’ll likely need a clutch, and It’ll be in need of a fairly comprehensive suspension refresh and likely some pipe work for the coolant system and brakes.
This is obviously several thousand quids worth of work. With all that in mind, however.. a great thing at a presumably knock down price.

I wonder what this will end up at...
Seller has a lot of cars too judging from the auctions.

My 996.1 K400 CS is on 40k miles and looks waaaay cleaner underneath and also inside... The mind boggles why you would not fix the worn leather on the dash next to the ignition key, or get a new handbrake leaver. At 36k miles, this is a very low mileage car for its age. Use that to your advantage, rather than leave it to numpties like us to pick it apart for minor cosmetic faults. Then again, those who know, will know they are getting a relative bargain...I had a look at what has been done to this one mechanically, and it's about par for the course. I think it's actually a nice car with a good history... The cosmetics are easy to sort out... The basis is great... It would be up to the buyer to figure out if they want to build on it... Mk1s are great cars and criminally undervalued ...

Why would you present a car in this condition:

Looked at this a couple of hours ago, my thoughts exactly. How many warning lights and the sellers not totally open in the comments.https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2015-porsche-9...
