I got out bid on this
https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1976-porsche-9...
would have paid more than the sale price also.

Compared to some of the recent prices reached, that looks like a bit of a bargain..https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1976-porsche-9...

The Good
Manual, C2, coupe in Polar Silver, 62k miles
Not So Good
Blue interior, retrimmed comfort seats and pre-varioram
I love Polar Silver on the 993, but it's not an investment spec car. At £51k+6% so £54k it would be a usable classic, at£80k £70k it's just overpriced and becomes a garage queen.
Fixed that for you...But can't fix your issues with pre-varioram ?Manual, C2, coupe in Polar Silver, 62k miles

When I bought my low mileage manual 993 C4 coupe (1996 so varioram) 30k miles for £32k from a reputable dealer, a gasket went within 1k miles and was a £500 fix at a local indie.
That £16k between CC selling and current offer price buys alot of future maintenance or a change of seats and interior.

I pinged you an email about another potential option - cheers

A pair of decent cats and a remap courtesy of Wayne Schofield will see you at the VR's 286hp with ease (and probably a bit more too) and personally I find the non-VR motor is more "honest" than the the later motor with it's VR trickery.
I thought the 3.8 VR motor in the back of my 993 RS was somewhat "lacklustre", whereas the mapped and decatted, Cup piped engine in the back of the 964 RS (pretty much the same as the early 993 motor apart from the hydraulic tappets) was a wonderful and responsive piece of kit.

+1Some people seem to derive pleasure in being fleeced by dealers.

You probably dodged a bullet. Those engines are dire. https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1976-porsche-9...

Chocolate headstuds and the crankcases warp if you so much as look at them.
I have to ask though, how did you get outbid if you’d have paid more than it went for? Surely if you had your maximum bid in you’d have won it.

The site now just seems to be dealers who aren't dealers and sellers who are dealers. I thought the site would go a bit longer until the fun went out of it
Collecting Cars do need to crack down on this or it'll lose all credibility. It should be a place for enthusiasts to sell to other enthusiasts.marky911 said:

I see this beauty is coming up again for the third time in as many weeks.

Perhaps third time of asking buyers will be too blinded by the colour to read the MOT history
lovely colour. Easy to get sucked in by the exterior looks but the interior is a ratty mess...what a state. https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1994-porsche-9...

You can see the enthusiasts who look after their cars and if they use CC to sell then great. I like the platform and the fact you can search and see historic sales by model.
