it feels like its the 'new clothes' situation........ Given 'The Market' and the car and classic auctions, which seem to be easier to work with and without so much fuss.
Are PH tied to them in some way?
From Google :Are PH tied to them in some way?
This may be of no consequence whatsoever, as DE sold PH some years ago. However ...

David Edmonston, founder of used car news website PistonHeads.com, is involved in a new venture. He's now a minority shareholder in CollectingCars.com, a British automotive marketplace for collectable cars sold by online auction. The model is having a significant impact on auction houses, dealers and automotive marketplaces."
As the Yanks would say "go figure".

Was just showing this to my mate..... beautiful car, would be surprised if it’s not close to £45k (even though it’s 3.6)https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2010-porsche-9...

This sold privately at the end of last year - it was being touted on 911uk by someone who was buying a GT3 and had a PX offer of high 30s.https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2010-porsche-9...

Are there different HPI check companies? Are they all equal ?
HPI and most others like it only check for damage or theft recorded on the insurer's database. VCheck also searches salvage auction sites for historical data, so there's a better chance of picking up on unrecorded history. You'd be surprised how many cars are sold with unrecorded damage. Even main dealerships get caught out, they're uncovered by social media sleuths on a fairly regular basis:
X6, HPI passed - https://ibb.co/znBYMXc
VCheck, fail - https://bit.ly/3rIcsaI
Range Rover, HPI passed - https://ibb.co/TmnqjC3
VCheck, fail - https://bit.ly/32mxq67
I don't rely on any vendor's checks nowadays, I always do my own regardles of the alleged provenance of the vehicle or the vendor.

Oh well.
Shame that CC basically offers less protection than eBay?

I was following this one, not to buy it but out of interest as I would really like one of these one day.I think the vendor said he bought it in the summer through Pearce & Dale, it think it was up for £195k or £199k there.
Maybe the number of previous owners suppressed the final figure.
Nice looking car though

If it was in a shade of avocado it would look very much like part of a 1970's bathroom suite. Not sure which part of your anatomy it's supposed to wash...

It's a trade seller who has clearly written things which are not true - about the engine for one. DAF comes to mind (and not the maker of big trucks and that very questionable CVT car back in the day).Did you read the comments, €200k build LOL....sellers not helping themselves at all

There was a PTS red one sold in the USA recently for $300K - don't know what the mileage was.
Odd that this one seems to have been through a number of owners... and I know it might be down to circumstance but you wouldn't normally buy a car like this in Summer and sell in winter.
