I was on the emotional rollercoaster for you R, was really exciting watching the last minute and last second bidding, and then seeing the time extend... like a game of chicken, haha.

Congrats on sale. Look forward to see the next steed, sure it will be special. wink

It’s funny as a family we did the same pleading with either Ashgood or Pancake to bid again and extend the auction.

Good luck with the sale

I love what CC’s delivers.

A platform for enthusiasts cars both private and retail alike where there is no preferential treatment and the private buyer gets to compete with the trade rather than pay SOR prices which also means the seller pays no fees.

They are starting on watches shortly which will be great.

Watch dealers in my experience are thieves so tightening that market up will be just what It needs.

Only issue with watches is knowing what you’re buying due to the countless fakes out there.

Mate is more than happy, it exceeded his estimations by quite a margin and even with fees it's much cheaper than the cheapest on the market-everyone happy.

It's a shame to see it go, we had some fantastic times in that car.
Glad to hear it and i gather he is proving a new Cam Belt service for the new owner too.

Have seen pics of it at the ring too.

Used as intended !

The hand written engine number on the sticker seemed odd......
Was that why it was pulled ?

I see this is now for sale with Ashgood
Good find!

So what do we deduce from this car now being offered at 137k when the fly yellow sold all in with commission for what will be a 50k difference ?

If there are some question marks over this car not sure why Ashgoods wouldnt mention this in the description.

Do we know why CC's pulled it from their auction ?

Price variance is £k41.5k
Well yes assuming it sells for the current full asking.

I was thinking it'd sell for 130 so give or take it makes it 50k ish.

Be good to know a little more about what makes this car so much cheaper than the other advertised online

Might be best not to question things too much, that’s what got the main Collecting Cars thread unduly censored/closed as ‘people‘ got a bit upset!
Upset about what exactly ?

There was a lot of (at times reasonable) questioning of certain auctions/history of cars/certain practices of the site.

I think either PH mods got a bit worried about being sued or Collecting Cars sent a strongly worded email as it got shut down sharply by a moderator.

I’ve always been a fan of the RS and to my mind these cars should continue to be driven.

If you buy an original paint RS and want to drive it it’s almost to miss the point.

The fly yellow car is undoubtedly a thing of beauty and I yearn for it but equally I’d want to dive it for many miles and also see what the fuss is on driving one on track so for doing that the Ashgood car would be the one for me.

Yes it’s been repainted but equally it’s been properly refurbished with brakes and better running gear and as mentioned in this thread the last owner has spent on the car.

The only remaining question is what would you buy for similar money in the Porsche world that can offer better thrills for the same cash ?

If you’re an aircooled fan then I can’t think of what else ticks the box.

Maybe a 991 RS is for some the better car but if you’re tempted by the aircooled charm to start with then the 991 just won’t cut it.

Personally I think I’d be blown away by the 991 RS but then I’d always be looking back with loving eyes at the 964.

Still have not owned an air cooled car.... shame on me I know. I think if I could (can’t atm) afford it, the 964 RS is at the top of the list of the still semi-affordable cars. Although I’d probably be just as happy with a standard 963/993 C2 that has been fettled a little bit.

if I had a little more money available, I saw a road registered 993 RSR copy for sale which looks great to me

That's a thing of beauty and the detail stacks up but for me at that price I'd have had RSVP's Fly Yellow all day.

Given the shocking paint and replacement doors it doesn’t surprise me that it hasn’t sold.

When it was first up at RPM I had a look at it....they wanted £165k with aftermarket split rims and without the original steering wheel....original wheels were available for £10k IIRC. Car was then offered for £155k with the OEM wheels and steering wheel, told them it was still way too high given the paint. Now it’s gone through auction with a reserve set too high by the look of it.

Effectively the owner started off trying to get £175k. Now it’s struggling to find a home for £40k less. How not to sell a car.
I got called away with around 10mins left and saw it at 105k so didn’t see where it ended up.

Interesting to know a little more of the cars past.

I guess it just highlights if you want the next example like RSVP911’s then you pay up
