Considering this 718 Boxster from local OPC, any thoughts?
Discussion
Been thinking about a Boxster for a while and seen this one which looks potentially interesting. It is a 2017 plate (2018 MY apparently) and not got masses of spec but does have nice wheels and the PSE. I have spoken to the OPC (Kendal whose new site will be 20 mins up the road from me), they are usually good to deal with and I bought my 911 from them many years ago so have some experience there.
Not discussed price but the car has just had its 2nd service, has 12 months mot and unusually has 12 months road tax on it (they had a sale fall through after taking a deposit hence they had already prepared the car to go). Is on at £38,995 which seems the upper end but might not be a million miles off given 2 year OPC warranty, just been serviced etc...

I have also read that the PSE is standard fit on 2018 onwards 718's, is that correct? If so then maybe this car came with it so not actually an extra.
Any thoughts welcome.

Personally, I wouldn’t give the mileage a second thought. It’s probably a tad higher than average, but it’s still low by most standards.
High 30s seems the rate for a 2017/18 718 2.0, so I’d weigh up the lower option spec of this one against what else is out there, and again against the OPC warranty.
Then you should buy it.
I can’t see prices for fun, second cars dropping, to be honest. With summer around the corner and lockdowns easing I think the demand will be sky high when everyone emerges with Rishi’s gyros burning holes in their shellsuit pockets.

Good advice! Have come to a price of £38,250 inc years road tax (£480 I think) & a full tank of petrol, which (with a bit of man maths) seems about right when you add on 2 year warranty included, just had 4 year service & 12 months mot. Hopefully 2 years relatively cheap motoring, apart from the massive depreciation.....

You won’t regret it.
As you’ve no doubt figured out, the 4 year service and 24 months warranty is worth over 3k alone. Like you say, minimum cost motoring.
The last year has shown us that life’s too short to worry too much about depreciation - but at least Porsches are generally pretty kind in that regard.
Post pics when she arrives!

Most cars depreciate but it seems that one miraculously - doesn't. Although that might change when you drive it off the forecourt.
When you can buy a new 718 from £46,500 with 3 years warranty that £38k for a 4 year old car sounds a lot of money to me. Bear in mind most cars depreciate around 50% of their new cost in the first three years.
Have you put the reg' in WBAC to see what they'd give you for the car the day after you've bought it?

Cheers, WBAC price is £33k.
As has been mentioned, once you start specc'ing it up the price ramps quite quickly, as well as the wheels, pdk, switchable pse it also has Bose, cruise, ParkAssist & rear view camera and a few other bits. Maybe not a bargain but with 2 year warranty, major service & years road tax included hopefully not totally unreasonable....
Too late to worry about the price now anyway!

Thanks for all the feedback. Looking at the numbers, these cars are surprisingly good value to buy new. Assuming this car and spec was £55k, you could have bought it brand new 4 years ago with 3 years warranty, kept it for 4 years and sold for £35k (WBAC will currently give £33k), hence £5k a year for a brand new Porsche with only costs a minor 2 year service (assuming original tyres, didn't extend warranty and sold before 4 year service due).
Cheap as chips motoring!

Also really surprised by how great the car sounds in Sport mode with the PSE switched on, was not expecting that....!
Looks great. Perfect time of year to begin ownership. As far as the sound goes, yes, the F4s do actually sound pretty good. It’s amazing how much utter nonsense is spewed about it on this forum by certain more ‘misguided’ posters...Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
