I suspect that is why you are happy with it as you have yet to experience the infrastructure flaws.
You are correct Julian. We have another option for longer family trips, but for us it is rare to exceed the range. I did however have >300 very recent miles in mid Wales (in a 911 with a mate in an F car). Much better than the more well known North Wales routes.

I felt I had to drive it in sport+ with the sound on to get any kind of enjoyment from it. I also found myself just driving flat out all the time because of the instant torque, so was driving like a bit of a dick because it wasn’t making any noise in the outside world.

Think engine noise keeps me more honest! I also didn’t like the rear wheel steer. It kicked in even during lane changes and felt like a slide.

The fake noise helps a bit with staying honest... I love it, it's childish but so what. The flip side to no lovely flat six wail is that it makes driving in traffic less obnoxious, so every 100 yard gap feels like the perfect opportunity to rag it without feeling like too much of an anti social t%^&. Wrt the RWS it's a price worth paying IMO to banish the misery of understeer, and park in unfeasibly tight spots.

Apologies in advance for offending the Taycan owners on here, but we have a deposit down on a 2WD and finally got round to test driving one. Annoyingly, despite insisting on testing a 2WD the dealer produced a 4S on the day.

Anyway, cut a long story short, it is the first electric car I have driven and I was disappointed by the 4S. It was nicely put together but just very dull to drive at normal speeds. It felt heavy, limited feedback because no engine noise (silly artificial electric sound thing aside).

I get that you can put your foot down and travel very quickly but that wears off after time and is not something you can do day to day in the real world. I think car reviewers have been very kind to it so far, maybe other EV's are just so poor?

The Cayenne we have is exceptional considering it is a 4x4 and I assumed Porsche would do the same for EV"s.

Was I expecting too much?

I actually got quite depressed afterwards thinking future generations are not going to know what they missed.
compared to the Rimac, then yes the Taycan is a snooze-fest

I found exactly the same with regard to closing gaps in traffic. Why cruise up when you can do it flat out, no noise to give you away. It started to get a bit boring though even over the course of the day I had the car.

It also made me wonder what a dangerous place the roads might be in 10yrs if everyone just drove flat out everywhere because there was no engine noise to give them away.

It's a good point. The thought of letting your average Sportage driver loose in a sub 4 second, 2 tonne EV is quite concerning.

I’m more concerned about the folk that currently drive those black corsa turbos!

Or grannies that hit the ‘brake’ peddle even harder by mistake. They’d be up to a ton in no time…
