Is this how it's going to be - Porsche hate??
Discussion
I think it’s a said reflection on the UK in general. There are some very bitter people that get satisfaction out of being unpleasant and causing damage to other property.
When I was 21 I bought myself a red MR2 mk2. Often got loads of negativity. On one occasion I was say in traffic, guy in graph fiesta sat in traffic going the other way, he smiled, gave the thumbs up and gestures to open window, at which point he spat at me. I started to get out of my car, his lights went green and he sped off. Some people are animals.
I’ve had quite a few old classics that have always been well received, stopped many times for a chat about them. Newer flashier cars seem to attract more negativity - I’ve bought a Taycan and I’ll be honest and say I’m concerned it’s going to attract the a-holes. Haters will always hate, their lives must be so sad.

Strangely only get admiration when out in my Ferraris including a Red 812 as they seem to intimidate other drivers into being polite.
Interesting mindset Taff! The only incident worth noting recently regarding a coffee bean gesture was the other week in the GT3 when I
Wonder what she thought of his childishness.
I think generally at the moment there is an up turn in people not liking others who have spent their money on a luxury like a nice car.
With the current economic climate and more people than ever struggling I think people see it as fashionable to hate on those who may not be struggling as much.

The OP has certainly got the juices flowing with this thread. Lots of very pertinent views, far to many to multi quote. I have driven 911's since 2016 and experienced a number of road related exchanges. What is universally different is driving your Porsche in Germany. In ten years of Euro trips to Spa and the Nordschleife not one single altercation with a fellow germanian.

As I posted earlier, never once have I suffered any abuse on the continent in various trips. In fact quite the opposite, lots of excitement and interest rather than jealousy and a desire to insult or belittle. That applied as much in the Porsche as cars that drew less vehement reaction in the UK. Sad indictment of the UK attitudes to those with nice things and perhaps befitting of a self-entitled society mixed with the fact that many owners of shiny things are considered show-offs instead of enthusiasts. It is a location thing as well though.
I like to think of myself as a relaxed driver. Everyone is just trying to get where they want to be. If we all work together we'll all get there quicker.
Except Northampton. I have the dubious honer of having to go there for work occasionally and everyone just seems to be looking for a fight with another motorist. God forbid as a non local you end up in the wrong lane. It'll be foot down to block you every time, lights flashing giving you the beens. I've had about three altercations with other motorists in the last year and every time in Northampton which I've only visited three times.
Theres some serious pent up anger there and I'd only drive a Porsche with a bloody big dog in the passenger seat.

Interesting thread.
I feel the huge spoiler combined with a bright colour doesn’t help…..as previously mentioned great for a track but on our traffic congested roads not needed so much. Jealous idiots find it too hard to restrain themselves.
Only car I’ve ever had negativity towards was a red 911 (964) I owned in the 90’s.
Ferrari’s all attracted positive comments, people just admired/commented on their styling.
Current grey Spyder thankfully goes under the radar.

I feel for you OP. I had quite a noticeable 981s in white and got lots of attention and everyone loved it.
However before that I had an m6 GC and it was shocking - everyone wanted to race. Got thrown something at me on the motorway and hurled abuse: to this day I got no idea why. Had plenty tailgating me to egg me on etc. really hated the majority of the attention with the m6.
Must be a perception thing. Gt4 = you think your some sort of racing driver: let’s see.
I felt like that in my m6. It was one of the most or the most powerful bmw out at the time and people just took a disliking to it.

Exactly the same as my experiences. The only cars I've had negative attitude from jealous motorists were from my Guards Red GT4 and Racing Yellow GT3. I'm pretty sure this an UK only problem where decades of poorly thought and short sighted Gov policy have created a nasty, jealous and spiteful society.

I had a very similar experience at times when we got our Tesla M3P back in 2019, never let it bother me TBH.
Tesla , seriously ...lol I was amazed by the amount of good and bad attention it got back in late 2019 early 2020. From regularly being approached by random people in car parks asking questions to every bloke in an M/AMG/RS attempting to race you no matter the location. I was glad when they became a bit more common and it calmed down TBH as the wife really wasn't enjoying it for the first few months.

If you mean UK when you say location then I'd agree. It's also definitely gotten worse over the past 2 years, there are a lot of angry people out there.I like to think of myself as a relaxed driver. Divide between ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’ is too extreme and only leads to negativity.
Unaffordable property prices/high cost of living are major problems that are just being swept under the carpet.

I really believe still living at home with parents and not seeing a way out whilst the generation above are mostly homeowners or if not doing well for themselves is most of the problem. A lot might have degrees and Uni debt but due to innovation there doesn’t appear to be as many well paid jobs.Edited by SWoll on Tuesday 29th March 17:12
I’m in my 50’s and it was definitely a lot easier for my generation.
