How much are people paying for their tyres these days?
I'm due a new pair on the rear, and I'm being quoted £740 from an independent Porsche garage. This seems pretty steep, so I shopped around and Asda and Halfords are over £200 cheaper for the same PS4S N-rated tyre. In fact, the last time I paid over £700 it was for four Goodyear F1s (on the same car).
The problem is I have always struggled with getting a decent balance on large 20" wheels, and this independent Porsche garage is the only business I know of locally with a road force balancing machine.
I feel I may need to suck this one up, but I'd be interested in hearing people's experiences.

I bought a set of 4 PS4S N-rated for a 718 through Black Circles, fitted at a local fitter for not much more than £1k. Maybe they're a Black Circles fitter?I'm due a new pair on the rear, and I'm being quoted £740 from an independent Porsche garage. I was told by an OPC that BC may well supply tyres that are old, ie manufactured some time back, and that that's why they are so cheap. Could have been a tale to get me to buy from them (I didn't, but I didn't buy from BC either) but it did make me wonder.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I rang my local OPC and they quoted £640, but they don't road force balance.
After doing a bit of reading, I remembered a thread I made 5 years ago about the same issue:

I think I will just spend the extra and save myself the aggro.

Never had a problem getting my wheels balanced correctly, I use someone I trust who has years of experience and is very skillful, however if you want them road force balanced then most places that have the machine charge around £25 per wheel so the extra £100 you've been quoted seems about right. After doing a bit of reading, I remembered a thread I made 5 years ago about the same issue:

All tyres are date stamped so it's easy to check. Centre of Gravity recommends all tyres having matching dates but not sure if that's really necessary. I do make sure all my tyres have matching dates on each axle.Anyone else got a view on this?
