So is the love affair with the Taycan over?
I think a lot of people love them but they’ve never sold in big numbers to people that couldn’t take advantage of the tax incentives. Packaging isn’t great for such a big car, there have been quite a lot of reliability issues, they’re not very efficient so don’t have a big range and when you do charge them you need access to a high power charger to charge them in a reasonable time. And they’re now much more expensive than when they first came out. They’re a very expensive car that is a bit of a niche ownership proposition.

Are they good to drive ? Very much so.

The Taycan is the only Porsche I see on a regular basis being used!
Mind you they are bloody long things , probably have more appeal if weren’t so big , the sportsback what ever it’s called looks nice if only shorter!

Just looked on Autotrader and there are 506 2nd hand Taycans advertised for sale compared to 34 992 GT3's with wing. If the bottoms dropping out of the GT3 market then god help the Taycan market. When you look at the 2nd hand prices the depreciation on Taycans is horrendous .
Don't think I'll be buying one anytime soon.

I'd like a sport turismo one. I'll wait until the end of 2024. 2nd hand price will probably halve by then

Also remember that a lot of the initial demand was from buyers of other marques, particularly Audi when the e-tron kept getting delayed.

See a couple of the RS e-trons now and while not a huge fan of electric cars think they look nicer than the Taycan.

Do think there will be a lot of people waiting for the second or third generation of cars before we see mass switching. Early adoption is always a bit of a gamble

It’s was only a matter of time for them to start applying discounts to new 992 cars.

Few months ago people were being told it’s a year wait, now we have 32 brand new cars on the Uk porsche site and god knows how many pre reg cars.

Some are jumping ship on their orders and supply is getting back up to where it used to be due to the covid chip supply being in the past.

The only delays you will now see is down to poor manufacturing or poor management with the factory.

They have had plenty of of time to get ready for the ramp
in production, they will build record numbers this year. Will sell every last one, that I’m not to sure.

For me it never started. Porsche are and always will be about sports cars imo.
Agree never stated for me, loaned one. Handling was like a porsche, brakes were like a porsche but that was about it.

Have it back and never thought about owning again.

Note that a good handful of the 32 new 992 listed are 2023 model year which can be determined from the VIN. Some may look like they are discounted if you open up the configurator (MY24 pricing) but they are actually above the MY 2023 list prices.

Are you imply our Uk porsche dealers are now selling new unregistered MY 2023 cars above list?

They’re offering them at those prices. I doubt they’re selling many.

You’ll probably find they’re not allowed to sell over the current list price. I think the OPC’s are trying to clear a few cars from the end of the 2023 model year and hiding it against the new pricing.

the number available is increasing even faster than i thought. by the time the 992.2 is launched the market will be flooded with .1's.

they have a hard task selling these cars imo, even with discounts.

With so many new and nearly new cars coming onto the market each day/week, the price pressure is downwards. Depreciation is back also.

The days of speculation or "own without loss" are over, so these buyers have simply left the market.

A would-be buyer has every reason to wait for more choice and a much better price.

I’m sure plenty are watching waiting to see what happens with the market, they haven’t even really started to drop in price if you ask me. It’s only the over priced stuff which is currently getting adjusted down.

The increase in car numbers available is sure sign buyers have either left or waiting to see what happens.
