Just updated my phone and have been going back through old photos. Here a few of the cars I wish I had never sold. Odd to think that I paid less for all 4 than it would cost to buy a single GT3 today. Should have tucked them all away. Hindsight and all that.
There is a white clubsport around the corner from where I live. Sadly it hasn't moved from it's spot on the driveway for at least 15 years now though. Last time I walked past there were bits of trim starting to fall off. Real shame.

Great question. I sold my 964 3.6 Turbo and the 993 GT2 evo after bad builders screwed our house up and we had to redo everything again from top to bottom. This happened just post 2008 banking crisis that also screwed most people up. All the money from the cars got swallowed up by the house and more. I would buy both back tomorrow without a thought for the same money I sold them for as IMO they are two of the most stunning 911's that Porsche has ever made. I will post a couple of pictures later when I have more time
And, after thinking about this, I would buy the GT3 back at today's prices.

Maybe, ignoring the monetary gain though, not sure I'd have driven it much with the CGT TBH. Fabulous thing and some great memories with Yellow, Pete and various other reprobatessmile

Remember picking it up from the Porsche dealer in Aachen and being on the limiter in 6th not too long afterwards.

Enough of these goregous air-cooled 911s. I was expecting to see Cayennes here.

996 turbo X50 manual. Bought in 2010 for £24.5k, sold in 2013 for £22k. Thought I had done well, until the Porsche 50 year effect then kicked in and prices flew up!

Groundhog Day ...

All documented here 7 years ago :

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Though with hindsight there’s just three I regret letting go of now.

The Ferrari Fly yellow 964RS
The Guards Red 993 RS
The Guards Red 996 Clubsport

But if I could only keep one, it would be a toss up between the two aircooled cars ...

fair point. I regret not buying a CGT in 2015. I don't care about the value gain per se, just the fact that now I will likely never be able to own one [would have never sold it, regardless of value]. Was my favorite car from the moment it was launched and the market just got away from me.
I'd happily own a 993 GT copy, but I would probably kill myself ...

Ok - Question for everyone who posted biggrin suppose there was an alternate reality whereby prices of all the cars listed as regret selling' were still broadly exactly the same as what you had sold them for.... How much less if at all would you still be regretting selling them? Not trying to ststir here (really!) but just wondering how much of the regret factor is monetary......
Personally I think it is obviously nice if a car is worth more than you paid for it, but generally speaking I miss the cars for the driving experience and the memories of each one of them. I would love to still have 3 of the 4 cars I sold in my garage to drive them from time to time. The one I don't really regret selling is the Challenge as I just don't have enough time to use it and trailering it everywhere is just a hassle. I do miss the Z3M Coupe (I did 40k km in that, bought it while I was still at university - luckily my brother bought one that I can use), the 355 (so much fun to drive - I did 20k miles in that over 2.5 years), the GT2 CS (scared me half of the time but so much fun - I did 10k km in that on Cup 1 tyres from December to April, then I wrote it off...). I miss them all and wish I still had them - the value is only relevant if you sell and I hate selling and don't do it if I don't have to...
I am seriosuly considering taking my Scuderia back, which has been for sale since August - I know I would regret it once it is gone

Honestly wish I had of done a few years back now. At one point it was used as a locking point for a trailer tent to prevent it from being stolen.

Here is my candidate where the regret is financial only. I surely wish I hadn’t sold it but had I kept it I would have no wish to drive it.

On the other hand, selling this made absolutely no sense at the time and makes even less sense now.

I guess the question here is with what did you replace your sale with ?

For me I've traded sideways or up and life is not a museum ... I think the the car that I engaged with most was my 964RS N-GT which was an absolute hoon. But it wasn't anything like as good a car as my highly modified 981GT4 is now ...

The CGT is hands down the most exhilarating car I've driven, totally immersive. The KW dampers have added a layer of sophistication and modernity to the damping, coupled with axle lift that I use it even more. With a set of Cup2 tyres and a good geometry and plenty of front negative camber it's staggering how hard you can lean on in.

I did 9700 miles in 2022, and would have liked to have done even more! Hopefully this year it will be into the 60 thousand miles. Hope to pass 100k miles somewhere around 2028!

Epic cars and stories. Not sure what others were like, but when I was young car hopping was a disease. I didnt just get itchy, it was more a case of full on crabs or leprosy!

Thank god, age hasn’t just slowed my faculties and body, it’s halted my trigger happy car swapping.

Theses days I’m settled and enjoy car ownership for the long haul..
