dan, i saw your 'ex' at bedford last friday... very nice, but clearly the new mistress has much better curves. are you going to be messing around with the set up at all?
Dunno yet. I need to see how the tyres wear on the road setting. I don't want to swap the dampers for anything harder, and nor do I want to make it more fidgety on the road!
In fact I'm more inclined to soften it & add 10mm ride height (although I'll change my mind once on track I'm sure)

Been meaning to congratulate you Dan. Must have been quite a month.
After the Noble the GT3 seems much more figety on road, but seems to have much less movement on track IMHO.
Yep the RS is definitely not as comfy on the road as the Noble, and the ground clearance is pretty comical (well you have to laugh, otherwise you'd cry). 10mm lower than on a GT3 with the RS!
As you say though, I'm sure this will all be compensated for on track, where the Noble really did feel too soft, especially through fast transitions.
Really loving the RS experience so far. Just got to pop down to the garage and apply some gaffer tape to the bottom of the splitter on the off chance it might spare it some pain!

Dan, how does it compare with the Noble in a straightline?
Geoff
It hasn't got anything like the same amount of torque so you don't get the shove in the back, more a relentless surge of power as it winds through the revs. Its only when you check the speedo, or need to jump on the brakes for a corner that you realise quite how relentless it just was.
Gear shift is infinitely better than the Noble which makes up for some time, and I like the feel of all the controls a lot more. The noble being turbo definitely has more in-gear flexibility and probably has the legs on the RS until you get to stupid speeds (drag kills nobles at 160 and even thats slow to reach). I doubt there is much in it in a 0-100 sprint though.
Ride is compromised for fast B road usage (imho). You can get down them, but you do get bounced about a bit. Despite that its still a confidence inspiring car, just uncomfortable if you are going for it on a crappy surface. Where one might hypothetically be comfortable doing 100 mph on a B road in the Noble, I'd prefer 10mph less in the Porker. Only done 100 miles in the RS though, so I may gain more confidence. On flat corners, the lack of roll is lovely and makes the car feel remarkably planted.
The steering is remarkably alive and reminds me of my old Elise S2, just without the understeer. I've not taken it on the track yet so thats a road impression. Being new to the car and thus nervous + excited I found that the steering a little tiring at motorway speeds simply because it is so incredibly responsive. The throttle response is stunning too, and thats one of the most wonderful things about the car.
Its noisier in the cabin than I realised too. Its not a tiring noise, but when you try to speak to someone on the mobile you realise theres quite a lot of it!
