I always wave at boxster owners. I like to encourage those who are on a starter porsche, whilst inspiring them to move up to something with a bit more grunt (and more seats)

I'm finding it hard to follow this thread.Would you wave to someone in the street who was wearing the same jacket as you?I'm not sure that you would,so why do you expect regular people who drive the same brand of car as you,to do so?If i saw one of someone waving at me,my first thoughts like most peoples would be "do i know you"Then my second would be ??? or freak!Guys nothing wrong with being passionate, but try and understand that lots of people who drive porsches just are'nt and so i really dont think there is any reason to get so touchy,do any of you actually know why your waving in the first place? If you all really feel that strongly about this waving issue, you could always exchange numbers meet up and then sit there waving at each other,it just might be the answer to your problem.

Yes but Rob05 wouldn't you perhaps smile in acknowledgement passing a guy with the same jacket as you? Theory is that he has the same interest as you re impeccable taste in clothes! Isn't it the same with the car - the guy has an interest in the marque and that's why he spent a wad of cash - because he loves beautiful cars. Trouble is this doesn't always apply ie the suited rich kids who are more interested in spending their dosh on something expensive, and not owning something that gives them an amazing driving experience. I guess they're the ones who don't wave!

And even if that is the case, why should you or anyone else care why a suited rich kid does'nt wave? And i would love to know how you have come to the conclusion of the rich kids,a careless generalisation on your part i think.Maybe some people dont give a toss about about the die hard porsche people and their opinions, and for me i dont have a problem with that and if some people choose to drive a porsche and dont wave who cares. Not everyone is going to be interested in the anorack side of porsche ownership, they don't buy the mags and dont use forums, that does'nt mean they dont enjoy driving their cars.Just like you guys think these people are sad,i'm sure they will hold similar opinions, each to their own.

Rob, to most people this will be around sense of community - wearing a specific jacket might not be a strong enough indicator but you certainly see a lot of bikers greeting each other with a small wave regardless of whether they know each other. Same applies to cyclists (at least the sports variety) and runners around where I live. You'll always find people who couldn't care less and don't bother to return a friendly wave, nod or whatever other form of greeting you chose but the majority will be more than happy to acknowledge the shared passion about something - be that cycling, running or enjoying a good hoon in a nice motor.

Agreed,i used to be a biker so i know where you are coming from.My point about this thread is that i dont see the need to insult the people who choose not to par-take in enthuisastic side of porsche ownership, hence my earlier comments about the validity of this thread in the first place.
