Well everyones entitled to their opinion, I don't buy it though as I was all over a 360 on straights in my Noble GT03. That article I linked further up the thread from motortrend didn't agree either.

These discussions are pointless though, as most peoples are very subjective and dictated by a desire to justify their purchasing decisions.

how can this discussion be pointless ??
A 360 versus a 911 c2… Come on…..

A noble is quicker than a 360 on track and on the road. There is no disputing that….
One weighs 950 odd kgs and has 350ish bhp / torque and a turbo
Power to weight ratio is about 340 bhp to the tonne (MINIMUM)

The other has no torque and weighs 1350kgs.
1350kgs is a liability…
Power to weight ratio is about 290 bhp to the tonne

The critical thing is weight. Once you get into 290 bhp, all cars will be pretty fast…
How fast is a Boxster S ? it will hang with most super cars all day with only 260 bhp… (last time I drove one)
Most boggo 911 Porsches weigh in over 1500kgs so does the Gallardo and the Muci..

A well driven Vaxhuall VX turbo will cream most cars on the road with only 220 bhp, cause it weighs 900 odd kilos..
No weight transfer…. To be fighting and worrying about.
Power to weight ratio is about 230 bhp to the tonne

So 320 bhp in a C2 weighing 1500kgs is nothing special.
Power to weight ratio is about 213 bhp to the tonne.

My point is that a 360 can do track days and hold its own,
It can do the high street thing and hold its own
It can do the GT thing as well…
It can do the A and B road blasts as well…

It really is accomplished….
I am not looking to defend it, as I have owed two Porsches and tracked several variants in the past.
It is a good car, and it is better than a 911 c2. Sorry. 996 and the 997.. sorry again..

You have to get into a 911 Turbo at least to start comparing.

Personaly when I founf the 911 a bit too normal and dare I say, boring.
I'm not commenting on the relative performance as I think both are more than quick enough for todays roads, but I'm suprised about the comments on interiors.
In the 360 interior it's all lovely stiched leather, in the Porche there's lots of injection moulded black plastic, and verm much more of a mass produced feel.

To me the 360 has much more of a sense of occasion, the 911 felt very ordinary and I think I would have quickly got bored with it.

Having said that I don't do big milages and if I did I might go the other way.

Each to their own I guess.

Okey. The car i drove was'nt fast full stop as you put it,did i drive it faster than 4000rpm?What do you really think i did?I am used to bikes, which in most cases make's driving cars with even 500bhp feel slow.FOR THE RECORD,i never said my C2 would blow it away,if any of you posting have bothered to read this thread in full you will see that i said up to a hundred the car felt no quicker than my C2.Do you really know what difference 0.4 seconds makes in a 0-60 sprint?Well i'll tell you then, not a wan.k,and to a 100 maybe a car length a best.I dont really care about journo times or i blew him away type talk because its all just boll.cks.Now i agree like i have already said zzzzzzzzzzzzzhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that i will need to drive a couple more before i make final judgement and i will, but im sorry, the car i drove felt slow

My point wasn't that a c2 was on a parr with a 360, simply that a standard GT3 should show it a clean pair of heals on a track.

Noble ways about 1100kg and had 350 bhp. I really wasn't kidding when I said I had to keep braking not to go into the back of him when we gunned it in convoy.

All depends what you want the car for though. 360s are very special, whilst 911s are a lot more mundane generally.

Errrrr.. relax and read your posts again pal…..
Sorry you used to drive bikes, I used track a Radical it doesn’t amount to anything.

and paint job resembles more fiat than ferrari workmanship ( on a 360 ? check who repaired it)

inside cheap sprayed on silver plastics with a dashboard more X19 than anything else. ( not much better than my 2001 Boxster S)
In my brief six hours i found the gear change cement like and the driving position difficult to adjust to. (check the Linkage, its got the best gear change ever)
The perfomance was the biggest disapointment of the day 400bhp and it felt no quicker than my C2 with 320 ( hey hence the blowing away comments)

It is quicker than a 911 c2.
It is a fast as a 911 TT
It is just slower than a 911 TT X50
It is slower than a Noble / GT2 / Muci / Gallardo…
But not slower than you think…. Don’t go for the journo comments either...

You asked for people who have driven the car to comment… Doesn’t sound like the car you drove was all that…
You will need more than half a day honestly..
The 360 is a special car, and like I posted previously once you get into 260 bhp, there is less and less in it,
All those cars will return
0 – 60 around 5 seconds
all will top 160 mph..
So where is the difference in the real world ?

The 360 has 400 bhp, using a british Calculator lets call it 360 BHP
A 911 Gt3 has 360 BHP
They both weigh roughly the same,
They both have bog standard cheap dampers,
The GT3 has marginally better brakes , unless you put stiffer pads on the 360…
I have driven both back to back on a track and there was nothing..
They both have serious weigh over the rear wheels for traction…
Please tell me where the difference is ?

I have no idea what journo time are.. this is just my experience on the track and on the road.

I have driven a Noble, and believe me I know how fast it is…. It is damped like no other car I know, and has balance poise and pace..
An M400 is faster than a most cars out there.. everyone knows that..
Maybe we should start another thread..
Whats the best car out there for 60K and why ?

ps ... stop saying the 911 is mundane and boring. !!!!! dont think its fair.... a sports exhaust and air filters on any model does the trick...

What type of glue are you on?I asked for comments and opinions, you seem to speak in facts, why are your facts to be believed?Tell me ITS YOUR OPINION THAT the cars you have driven felt much faster i have no reason to doubt you,why should i?When did i ever suggest that the porsche interior was better?I could have said "compared to my mate's bentley the build quality is a joke" which it is but i did'nt,whats your point?Mine is that for 110k its not good enough?Have you ever ridden a bike?It does'nt sound like it because you ride bikes and not DRIVE them.My point was to make it clear to you, that i drove the car how it was ment to be driven, hard so you could get a feel of what i was talking about then given opinion based on that.Anyway i think you missed the point of my post

GT3 has 381bhp and more torque I believe. Also better brakes. Put it this way, its the 360CS that all the magazines which bothered doing timed laps lined up against the GT3 mk2.

Regardless of this pointless armchair racingm I wouldn't track a 360. I really don't believe it would cost effective compared to a GT3. Thats just my opinion, but its why I didn't even consider one when I bought my RS.

Chill out….I have not missed any point.
You drove your mates 360 as hard as possible, hitting the rev limiter, driving it like it was intended.… and it was slow.
Compared to your 911 c2. or comparable to your C2..

I did not question your driving skill nor ability.. check my posts…
Just question the health of the car you drove… (classic Ferrari excuse)

You asked for comments.. I gave you comments…. No Facts…..

Read through the thread again,
There is utter nonsense like ‘ if you want a car to drive buy a 911 and if you want a car to talk about buy a 360.’

Maybe there are people who buy the car to show off in, but it should not detract from the fact that the 360 is a very special car.

For 110K maybe its not good enough ??????, Which car is good value for 110k Please tell me., and at 50k plus now.. its good value..

it also has its faults, but lack of performance is not one of them..
call it brittle
call it nervous..
call it ugly..
in my opinion

I have been banned from even thinking of bikes…. The way I drive, too dangerous (not in a high street run em over type manner) .. a near miss in a car could mean dented metal / a trip into the armco for me.. a near miss in a bike could mean a wheel chair for me....

Take out as many 360’s as you can… and let us know the result.

Parr took a GT3RS running JRZ suspension to Spa last year to work on set up. During the second day Ferrari were there with 5, 360 CS cars taking customers around prior to a festival that weekend. During the afternoon, I was taking a mechanic round for a jolly when we came across a CS on the run down to EU Rouge, I was amazed how easy it was to catch him on the exit. I was even more amazed when after blocking us for a while, the entire rear section of the car came off and flew over us on the run down the hill to Stavelot 1. Having watched the car smash into the barriers in my mirrors I looked forward to see another one bellowing smoke from the left bank of exhausts rolling along with a failed engine. The red flags came out and as we trundled back to the pits, a third 360 was parked by the trackside at the bus stop with gearbox failure.

The RS went round lap after lap for 2 days and didn't miss a beat. I concluded that driving Porsches gave you a whole lot more track time....

Im very chilled.Im not offended by you posts so dont worry. The car i drove was poor,i can't tell you that there all like that because i dont know.Yes you will always find die hard fans here who can't quite take a hit against there much loved porsche,im not one of them,my car is ok,my next will be better a C2 997S.Your car will always attract more attention, but for me and what i need,Porsche are the only ones who offer me an all round supercar that does everying very well, like a honda vfr in the bike world.I dont want a six year old car so 55k isnt a bargin for me,and i dont want a car that spends most of its time at the service centre. At the end of the day your posts were hard core but fun to read

All 360’s are slow and terrible…. Nice choice on the 997S..
My next car is not going to be a Ferrari, A LHD Gallardo at £60k in six months will be too tempting…(hope)
Even hearing GT2’s are round about that figure. !!!!! What has the world come to ??

But I would have another 360 in a heartbeat..
The only service centre it spent any amount of time in said ‘Shell’ in bold yellow.….
Be good. !!

I went down to Kings Road last year to exchange a pair of Prada shoes I bought for my GF.
There was a 997 behind me, reving it so people could see him in his new 997….so I decided to raise the stakes with the tubi, drowned the poor fella out and everyone was pointing at my 360 saying corrr look at that..
Birds handing me phone numbers left right and center….
118 decibles bouncing off all the shops, people asking to sit on the wing and take pictures..

I looked in my rear view mirror and the passenger in the 997 was probably saying why didn’t you get Ferrari ?
Conclusion.. you get a better sense of occasion in a Ferrari.

was a joke if you cannot read between the lines... but not far off the truth in a Ferrari..
Peoples reaction is just silly sometimes...
but its a decent car.. and each to their own...
People have Ferraris/ Nobles / Porsches its a personal choice, each have their own faults..
I could go down the boring root, or 20 million a penny car, poor mans exotic, but thats for kids.
