hey are 911 owners this touchy?
read between the lines.....
for every advantage a Ferrari has you can draw up a disdavantage for a 911.
and vice versa..
The common conception is that Ferrari's overheat in traffic so why will I be on kings road.

Dunno you said it not me.
Personally I like Ferraris, but I don't think they are a realistic track proposition and I'm not totally convinced by the 360s performance relative to its peers. If you weren't trying to convince me otherwise, I wouldn't have wasted quite so many words armchair racing with you
Anyway enjoy your rarri, they sound fab and are certainly more 'special' than a porker.
Okey..... I've read your other posts and know you're a joker so no prob with a bit of banter mate...
However, a GT3 will crush a 360 sooo comprehensively it's not even funny. I know the 360 so well that you could say I've owned one and I'll tell you mate, there's no way they EVER kick out 400hp.
Apart from the blueprinted 360 Challenge Race Cars they don't even get close.
After countless dyno tests the most I've ever seen a 360 produce is 371bhp.. Evev CS's normally kick out around 380hp which is pretty low.
Around the corners the story is pretty similar. The 360 understeers like a b*stard (blame skinny fronts and no negative camber) and any throttle adjustment leads to snap oversteer.
The car is a great all rounder. Fitted with a Tubi, the symphony is glorious, the car looks great too and has fab road presence (I LOVE THE ATTENTION). On an absolute scale it's blisteringly quick and handles amazingly well (turn in is sensational).
BUT... alongside a TT/GT2/GT3 AS A PERFORMANCE CAR it get's killed.

Agree on some points, the 360 doesn't handle that well, IMO, and Okey has addressed that in his posts. Why are the Porsche owners here so hyped up?? What gives?
Anyway, knowing how Okey drives, it doesn't really matter what car he's got, not many will keep up with him
I've personally found the 996TT with tip about as quick as a 360, and a 355 driven properly is also about as quick. There's not that much in it, but the 355 is way under torqued (is that a real expression?? )and really needs to be ragged. The X50 is a killer.
Comments such as people buy Ferrari's to pose are pretty off the mark. Obviously you've never come across guys like Okey and Kevin.
The 911 is a pretty hard proposition to beat, and a GT3 is a v quick car, I do think a bit quicker than a 360, not IMO than a CS, nor handling as tight or balanced either. Great cars though, and so much more character than a standard 911. Any 911 other than a TT or GT* is just *another* car, the GT*s have something special.
My 360 was very strong, as was my 355, which got used about 11K in a year, and was still running strong when I px'ed for the 360. If I had any basic 996 & a 360, I'd never use the 996. Having said that, colour is also important, if it were a really camp colour like yellow I'd probably smash it into a brick wall on purpose... I'd not buy another 360 though either.

I do think the fact that you did decent mileage has a beneficial effect. I don't think it can be good for any car Ferrari or Porsche to do <3000 miles p/a IMHO
I currently have a 996 C2.
Have driven a 360, a GT3 and a 996TT.
The 360 was a little faster than my C2, but not by a great deal. I would say the GT3 is a little quicker in a straight line and would destroy a 360 on track. I can't imagine how a 360 could live with a 996TT.
The 360 is a special car, a real sense of occasion, looks to die for and a noise like nothing else.
The GT3 is more special to DRIVE than any of them.
The 996TT is just a beast.
The C2 (mine has sports pack) is the best pound for pound sports car in history.
Just my thoughts.

This is starting to get too personal
I think the original question has been answered anyway.
Also, the thread has shown that judging performance can be extremely subjective and that people can have different experiences of the same car. There are enough opinions on here to be useful tho'.
If anyone wants to start up another thread on a point not mentioned previously, be my guest. Please keep the over-emotional Ferrari vs Porsche rivalry out of it - we are all car enthusiasts, one and the same, and let's face it, neither car manufacturer makes sheds these days.
Cheers
