Might be worth picking up if you own a 997 and fancy a bit of journalistic purchase validation ;)

Did it have PASM or Sports Suspension?

I'm also interested in PASM/Sports.

Porsche GB's weapon of choice (silver one) has sports suspension doesn't it?

It has the optional sports suspension, would also be my choice after driving a 997S with PASM at chobham. Seemed to fidget on fast bumpy corners. Perfectly fine at slower speeds / smoother roads though.

I took a technician out in my 997 with -20mm and he told me that my car drove far better than the PASM which he said bobbed around all over the place. This was also my impression of the PASM when I test drove a 997 and I was worried that my then confirmed order of -20mm would be even worse. Fortunately I found it to ride far better than a PASM in sport mode (father in law let me test his after) and is nowhere near as firm as some would believe.

Interestingly, Chris Harris claims in the article that the C2S with sports suspenion+LSD laps quicker than a 996 GT3. I'm fairly sketpical, but if thats the case its not good news for GT3 residuals!

I drove a 997 C2S at Bedford. The S Pack needs to be bloody good if it gets the car near a GT3 cos it was miles behind without it.

FWIW (probably not much), Evo list the 997S sport pack as 1min 24.6 around Beford West circuit, the GT3 RS at 1min 23.85. Not exactly close, perhaps different drivers, conditions, tyres etc too...

I think maybe he bought the company bullshit about the 997S having 30% more grip than the 996. I don't see how thats possible unless tyre technology has radically evolved and no one mentioned it to the public.

Odd though as he's a reasonably handy driver.

But that's the RS, maybe the 997S sport pack and 996GT3 (non RS) would be closer?

Funny then they both have very close Nurburgring times. The -20mm car is significantly quicker than the standard PASM car around there too.
