Resetting the ECU can be done as easily as disconnecting the battery for a short space of time, this will revert the ECU back to factory settings.

I have often wondered if the ECU learns real time, as often my TT can feel sluggish & unresponsive if driven slow through traffic for most of the day, but then a few minutes of "spirited driving" on an open road & the car feels much more alive & responsive.....or is it just me?

No. It is not just you. Mine behaves exactly as you have described as well... It does not take long for it to start to feel 'lively' again.

I hear DMS save the original settings before they re-map, so that a re-mapped car can be put back to factory settings at the touch of a button - I guess if someone wants to sell the car on or make an engine warranty claim.

So what haapens when engine explodes? You have to remember to get it towed to the tuning company to have it re-set before calling Porsche recovery who will then take it to the OPC. Sounds like a lot of buggeration just to get a few more bhp. IMHO, far better to spend the dosh on driver instruction to learn to drive the 420bhp to their max ability.

Some tuners offer little widgets you can plug into the diagnostic port to switch maps yourself. That has to be the best bet if you are going down this route.

Thanks Dom. Andy was over here earlier in the week. We discussed the various methods of stealth ECU reprogramming. The version on offer from us does not alter a few key parts of the ECU embedded codes & sums. The hand held plug in device actually removes the enhanced programme and does not trip the flash counter. Reinstating the programme takes seconds.

Cheers

Weltmeister, how do you stop people sharing the plug in keys and undermining your profits? Just curious as presumably that issue is why most tuners won't sell the programmers.

The "plug in" only recognises the original host unit
