Go on Ted, let them in, we could do with a few more discussions about hairstyles.

Seriously, been posting here for what seems like years and I have never even looked at the Boxster section before today. Seems pointless leaving them out on their own, after all they have got so much in common with the 996 (engine failures, water leaks, rotting radiators, unfixable gearboxes...) they may as well all moan about Porsche together.

Hey, I was out for some lunch!!! Even moderators have to eat now and again

I'm easy with whatever Ted wants to do; it seems to work OK like this but the main board has the most banter - it's true. The problem with one board is that stuff 'goes overleaf' quite quickly now and some people don't get helped if it's a technical or difficult question as it swiftly becomes yesterdays news. I'd be tempted to subdivide it even more, in all honesty. Maybe 911, 924+944+968+928, Boxster+Cayman+Cayenne.

PS If you ever need ultra-quick responses to questions, email me or Daz through our profiles or contact Ted himself. If it's someone trolling or spamming the forum then 'report abuse'. It's like a moderator panic button; for emergencies only.

Valid point there about things disappearing quickly. How about a "Threads per page" option Ted? I would rather have about fifty threads on a big screen, as it always seems I've always got loads of dead space at the bottom of my monitor.

General Porsche Banter
924/944/968
Real 911/964/993 - Air cooled
Poofy Boxster/996/997 - Water cooled

I agree with Dom in that it makes sense to sub divide, so that you don't lose threads...there are a lot of people lurking (myself included) who are going to get involved with a more sporty/ lightweight porker question and not really feel they have much to add to a "who has the gayest colour 996" post.

Dom thats a nice idea but in practice imho would be a disaster, the forum would loose all its banter and it would be so slow you'd never get a fast reply switching from one forum to the next.Just look how good general gassing and pie and piston are, united we have a chance to really improve the porsche forum.Neinmiester makes the most valid points of all for joing the two.

Easy, just have two forums in the porsche section:
"air cooled" and "everything else"

I'd agree with that, or everything in the same Porsche forum. If I had a Boxster the current elitist config would wind me up to the point where I'd throw my curling tongues out my handbag.

But for all the 959 posters, would you have much more in common with te air or water cooled crowd?

It ain't easy!

maybe we could narrow it down to dry sump or semi-dry sump engined cars?

Simple "911s only"

that's all you need.

In fact "anything pre 996" would be even better

now where's that "bag of popcorn" smiley....

Or do:

- front engined
- mid engined
- rear engined

It does throw up some interesting anomalies tho'... flemke and his mid engined Carrera GT in with the Boxster 2.5 crowd (or 914 owners!), Cayenne owners in with dogsharks and the 928 posse.

How about 6 cylinders or more, and 5 cylinders or less?

In fact, we could have a 12 cylinder section in case someone buys a 917...
