Mean as. just to be different, I'd go for one in candy red. Mmmmmm. When's Gemballa going to do a turbo version of the 997? I mean, in 996 guise, Gemballa's went all the way up to 750hp. Then again, the peak power and torque rpms were only seperated by a couple of hundred revs. Not to mention the Max Power looks... I'd go for a 750hp increased capacity 3.8L Gemballa engine in a car with a Ruf 'kit.

The Gemballa Avalanche is already being advertised on the back of 911 and Porsche World mag, which is 997-based. Interesting kit on it, not great from all angles, but the rear view is very nice!

Very interesting thread here.
The true question arising from this is a different one though, what will Porsche do with the 997 Turbo? We are on the way to 2 years since the launch of the 997 and as the article said, the tuners are much faster than before. Because of the not-so-great differences between the 996 and 997 underpinnings we have in practical terms the 997 turbo before the official model.
What is Porsche up to? just sleeeeeeping on their V W shareholding? or are they developing something that will blow the rest totally off course?
Bring on a dual clutch paddle gearbox ... given the great reviews of the Golf GTI compared to the sloppy tiptronic or the awful paddle-boxes around (Maserati or Aston anyone?), that will be worth the wait, hopefully at less than 2/3 the price of the Ruf...

another pic does that say 280MPH
Dunno. It says 280 something. More likely to be km than m.
Also interesting to note that most of the speedo is out of
view from the camera angle. That'll be handy.
No - it must be 280 mph because even my old crock will exceed 280 kph.

Now what do i do...
997 Ruf or 997 Turbo. Super exclusivity and ludicrous speed versus a bit less exclusivity and only ridiculous speed.
Er...
Looks. Turbo - the best wheels ever and cool LEDs.
Ruf - slightly better styled spoiler (as it sits flush to the body) and sleekly integrated air intakes. Plus the styling of the Ruf is probably more customisable anyway.
But dammit! The new Turbo finally has a decent autobox which is a must in the capital.
So, which one to purchase in my dreams if my dreams are boring and i can "only" afford one supercar for the weekend and have to run a toy car for the daily grind?
Probably a Ferrari 430 spider F1 in that shimmering silver-blue colour they do called grigio alloy. If you can, then you must. A ferrari is a ferrari after all.
