seperate sections for this forum?

Why is this forum all lumped into one!
TVR has different sections for their cars, I've just bought a 944 S2 and find it difficult to get a response sometimes ?
I had a TVR S1 and there were no problems getting results. I would have thought there were enough Porsche's out there to warrent sections for the marques.
What do you think ?
gadgit.

I know what you mean
- as an ex TVR S2 owner this forum seems to lack some of the cameraderie of the TVR forums - but then again the cars don't go wrong as often so there isn't so much 'common grief'!
unless you've got a boxster or 996.....
:runsforcover:
What have to got now then, an S2. just nip out to your car if you can and tell me which way the boot seal fits. you will see my request for info with no reply ??? I would think if yours is the coupe, that the seal would be the same style as a boot seal for the cabrio.
Someone must know !!!

I did'nt want to sell the S, but the porsche is the same year (89) and all the nuts and bolts come undone instead of braking off !
I've just taken the half shaft off for new CV's and all the bolts come out no problem. The TVR ? Had to grind off all the heads to get them off, Great fun that was?
I've only just got the thing and am doing it up so i'm not going to slag off the S, as those blokes are a bunch of gems as far as helping out. (still no reply on the boot rubber for the S2.)
Should I be suprised ?

Easy m8 - you post at 19.04, and at 19.53 you are posting again saying that nobody responds to you! How many people with intimate knowledge of S2 cab boots do you think peruse these forums every hour?
Hope someone turns up who can help you out, but you might need to wait longer than half an hour. ;-)

It doesn`t help that the original post is a little confusing. Why not post a picture of the seal showing the area of concern. Someone could then post a picture of their seal for comparison. Alternatively why not simply re-fit the new seal in the same way the old one was fitted ?
As has already been said you can`t expect to come on and get 24hr real time advice, especially at night. Give it a day or so.
If the forum was divided up then you might not get any replies at all, as things are 911 owners who once owned 944`s might be able to help. Most people, myself included pop on every now and again for a moment, we haven`t time to go on 8 different forums and besides there are a lot of subjects that span the various models. Luckily there doesn`t seem to be the same clique mentality of some other marques.

Completely agree with Henry. I like the lack of clique mentality (other than the Porsche clique of course) and the breadth of topics this generates is the forum’s strength. I am more interested 993 / 996TT stuff but always open up other general threads from curiosity and I feel I know more about Porsches as a result. As for specifics one can put questions in the “Topic” section, readers will spot them and reply as they want. 10 – 20 new posts a day is too few to warrant subdivision.

i like the catholic nature of the mixed porsche forum. many owners of other models will have had past experience of mine, just as I spent years maintaining a 944 and can contribute occsaionally. If the marque was split then we would probably tend to gravitate to our own models and cross-pollination would be lost. Its also a good way of gleaning knowledge of a model before changing/upgrading, and then there is the (usually friendly) banter and p**s-taking, such as the air-cooled/water-cooled and front/rear engine rivalry tha usually brightens a dull day.
Just look at the dearth of postings on the boxster forum to see how splitting off a model stifles general debate.
I tink gadgit is being a bit harsh. as said before, posting a highly specific question about an issue confined to a rare model is going to take a while to bear fruit. Ive got a 968cab which I'd imagine is similar to your S2 cab but I'm not sure what you mean by the boot seal - presume the squishy rectangular rubber/foam that goes round the edge of the boot bay? so give a bit more info and maybe we can help. but split the forum up and you will spend your whole day in the "944S2Cab" section shouting "hello, anyone home?"
