Chaps

Thinking of moving on to a more usable car next year and have noticed that 911 GT3s are now a lot more attainable and attractive price-wise.

In order to help justify a switch, I was wondering whether the rear seats are avaiable on it or whether they are all, 'stripped-out'? I suppose the other option would be to go for a GT3-kitted C2.

Thanks for your help.

No back seats and not legal to fit them as its a 2 seater on its classification.

Well, I wonder what the legal position is. Piers has a 993 RS. Most of them had no rear seats, so you may expect them to be '2 seaters'. Pierr' car, however, had rear seats from the factory.

Wouldn't they need to crash test GT3's specifically if they were classified as 2 seaters? If so, why would they bother...

Interestingly enough my GT3 Mk2 CS says 4 seats on the V5 although not sure how I will be able to fit the additional 2 seats with the rear roll cage!!

My GT3's V5 doesn't say a thing about number of seats. Just refers to it as being a Coupe.

I notice that design911co.uk sell GT3 kits for £1695 plus VAT, any idea on how much they cost to fit?

No, no, no! Mods like this I think are sooo wrong. If its not a GT3 why make it look like one.

Bit like stone cladding if you ask me.

What like getting an MR2 Ferrari? Its not always about affording, it's also a taste thing

I'm not saying people CAN'T do it simply that it is wrong, like adding unnecessary rear spoilers, purple neon lights under the car and shiny chrome wheels. Of course you can do what you like but ...

Don't shout, that's exactly what I'm saying.

But you don't have to agree with other people's taste which is what I said in the first place. Oh dear.

Odd as every time this has come up before its been pointed out that it would probably invalidate the insurance etc as it is a 2 seater on some piece of documentation. Do you have your type approval doc to hand? I've managed to scatter my docs in 10 places across the house at the moment

Dan

I think the type approval myth may be a myth - though I expect a lot boils down to the contract you have with your insurance company.
