997 C4S - performance kit or not ??

Most people would say no,but if you can afford it buy it,just drop some of the other options.
Power wise the C4 will feel slower than your C2 anyway and the exra 25bhp or so will feel like more.Also if you plan to keep the car a few years by then there will be hundreds for sale but maybe only one or two with the power kit and given the choice which would you buy second hand?
People say its a waste of cash and cheaper to mod yourself but i disagree and the so called remap on n/a cars never lives up to expections without goning the full hog imho,also warranty issues etc.
You wont get all your money back for the upgrade but you'l have a fantanstic car which you can mod further if you ever need to.

I spec`d the upgrade on my 996 C4S last year. The bhp gains 25 bhp and the torque although not increased is available at a more linear curve. The graph illustrates this, the unbroken line is the upgraded unit. Apologies for the quality of the repro. If required I`ll post again , only larger.

thanks guys - inc the power kit, the list is going to be around £83k ish, which is a touch high, but as my bro keeps telling me, it will be quicker than a 996 turbo, in real terms.
my c2s was 70k and i sold it for 67.5k with 7k miles. however, we will be keeping the c4s for quite a while me thinks.
i have heard of people changing every 12 months without losing any cash - surely not possible...
i am going to be boring and go for black / black for c4s - but open to 'experienced' suggestions

"made up" is the only "real terms" I can make fit that assertion!
I wouldn't spend the money personally. Its too much for too little and you are unlikely to see any of it back at resale. Then again I'd have kept the RWD car too

hardly, extra turbo oomph and way more torque would make any TT quicker
its a very desirable option but a heart not a head thing - think 2 year / 80% depreciation of options on a car that loses maybe 30%
but it will sure make your car stand out from the rest
make sure you get the sports zorst too
I no longer see the point of a 4S like I did for the 993 and 996 (where the visual difference was huge over the std car), personally I would get a high spec C2S with sports zorst (and perf kit if you must)

reshdiu I think you are making a big mistake. C4S with +25 Bhp is no match for a 993TT let alone a 996TT. Current 996TT is £90 K and the replacement will be around that. Get on the list in Germany where the list is shorter and get C16 997TT about March 2007. It's a way off but nothing will be able to touch that car for over 3 years and the one that does will be a 998TT !
Besides the C4S (excellent as it is) will always be a TT without the "go button".

Have you got the torque figures?
Resh. If you have no trade in, have you considered getting an order in for a 997TT (with X50 power upgrade of course!) and in the meantime buying a used comfort spec GT3 Mk 2. Seems to be a fair few low mileage examples in the early £50k area.

why not get a 996tt for around 69k......... (£83k is a hellaofalotofmoneyfornonturbo)

Why spend that much on a 996TT? Just more to lose and high end car residuals are awful at the moment.

My advice would be to think about what YOU want and go buy it.
Def after a PORKA, having owned the C2s for 6 months, still regret selling it, still the 535d is 'ok' ;-)
Also, you buy the 4S and that's gonna be your last stop as far as performance goes.....
Buy a turbo and you can have a power upgrade any time you get bored. In fact, I'm just considering widening the gap on my car now, what with all these 'modern' NA porkers pushing out 400bhp, time to say see ya later and go to 500.

we have our name down for the TUrbo too - but the price tag is very scarey.........
also do you not think that the new 997 face has put a few years on the 996 - albeit the 996 was the dogs whatsits
