993 RS prices??
Discussion
I try to keep an eye on the prices of these fantastic cars.
Obviously there is a large differential in the price of Right & LHD cars...there are a lot more Lhd around...I beleive there are 22 rhd cars that came into the UK Porsche network...I am sure I will be corrected on this.
For Lhd cars the cheapest I have seen was £32k with 60k miles.....the most expensive was a comfort spec in silver which sold for just over £40k with 22k miles.
For the rhd cars there seem to be relatively quite a few available(about 5 for sale at the moment) the prices seem to be offered in the £52-£62,000 range obviously depending on mileage and such things as RSR bodykit.
Porsche dealer Stratstone of Wilmslow have or until recently had rhd UK cars, one silver 40k miles for £52,000 and a red one with 20k odd miles for £54,500.
I looked at a lhd car at another Porsche dealership last year with 40k miles for £38,000...I was put off by the customised interior, this car was placed outside the dealer network.
I would not neccesarily buy the cheapest car I could find as you may have to spend a fair ammount to bring it up to scratch, don't forget most of these cars have been tracked and this can be hard on consumables.
I would think a good lhd 993 Rs could be bought for about £36-£38,000 from a reputable specialist.

I paid 43K for mine from Autofarm in April, at the higher end of the scale but the car is in great condition. It also had a Roock conversion which they said cost around 9K.
Prices have hardly moved on it seems Edited by Wozy68 on Wednesday 28th September 22:51
These type of threads are quite frustrating as I rue 'what could have been' but if I sit down and think about it... ........14 years ago I was in NO position to spend £40k on a toy! ...... I was too busy paying off a loan to buy a Renault Clio 172
Looking at past sold prices and regretting selling or buying will do you no favours in my opinion.

No regrets here, and no expectation that looking back at all my 911 experiences will do me any favours. I do however consider myself hugely lucky to have driven and owned the cream of some of the finest aircooled cars Porsche produced when they were cheap and all the more enjoyable for it. Looking at past sold prices and regretting selling or buying will do you no favours in my opinion.

I bought mine for £38k. Sold it a few years ago and bought a 360 Challenge Stradale and a 550 Maranello with the proceeds. First time I've ever timed the market right!
Well done that man.Hope you've managed to enjoy the cars as I did.
Owned 550 in 97,98,99 one of my top 10 cars-how it drives belies it's bulk.
Strad owned 2004/05 4500 miles of bliss-another top 10

Nice 1 owner car for sale - http://www.germansportscars.net/GB/cars-for-sale/d...
I bought my E46 M3 in 2002, I remember just after bought it I I parked up and a bloke jumped out his hid 993 RS ran over and started asking me about the SMG box. Same price as an 993 RS back then. Six months later I rang Autofarm about a 2.7 RS they had advertised for £50k " It's sold sir we have another one coming in next week for £60k but that's too much money" Aaarrrggghhhh!

Well at least I went on to own a 993 RS.Hello everyone. I started this thread 14 years ago.
Not long after I started this thread I bought a black LHD 993 RS for £41,750 (I remember the exact price). I did a lot of track days in the 2 years I owned it. I even ended up doing a full engine rebuild and fitting a brand new factory exhaust system (13 grand).
Eventually I needed to do a big old extension on the house, so I sold the car for 70 grand (well, that's how much I received. The broker had the car up for £82,500 so they will have pocketed a fair amount of cash on the deal). Anyway, at the time I sold the car I was happy because I enjoyed 2 years "free" motoring...........I did a st load of track days (including 2 Spa trips and a Ring trip, and countless GB track trips, lots of hotel costs etc) and that 13 grand engine rebuild..........and the appreciation covered the whole cost of all this fun.
I could look at what happened during my period of 993 RS ownership in 2 ways:
1. What a nob I am. I sold a car for 70K that is now worth 250K. I should probably kill myself for being such a fool.
or......
2. I bought a 993 RS for £41,750 and drove it very hard like it was a "normal" car, not some kind of priceless relic. I drove it to work in the snow (on Pirelli track tyres). I took it to the shops. I span the thing countless times on the track (Steve Rance in the passenger seat instructing me!!). I have thundered round the likes of Eau Rouge and Donington National without a care in the world following mates in other 964 and 993 RS cars (hello Ben, Vic, John, Adrian, et al). I even took the car to Vmax at Bruntingthorpe! Not it's natural home of course, but it was good trying (and failing) to race Adam's yellow Ruf Yellow Bird there.
I choose to remember my 993 RS ownership under point "2" above.
