Just come from an M3 to get into a 996.

Really good car but they are a b*gger to sell at the moment as there are a LOT about. Get an early relatively low miler for as little as possible with Sat Nav and you should be ok. Other options that are "must haves" for a prospective purchaser are 19" wheels and fsh. The H&K upgrade and heated seats are pretty popular to.

Maserati 3200 GT... if it is just for 6 months and you were buying now + sell summer when prices are higher. 370 bhp, great torque levels, beautiful, actually just as reliable as any other car + quite & luxurious. Hard to sell I guess but then buy well and it won't be slow to sell in the summer. Not great for adults in the back but they do fit and not by craning their necks either. Good boot too. Auto's sell well but are only 3 speed and not great, manuals are good for the spirited driver. £22K gets you a good 2001 car.

Be sensible, lease a "normal" family car for six months....it will save you a packet and make the new Porsche feel all that much better!!!!

Good point, but i dont really need that as i can use the merc or the 206 or even the alfa 156 i'm using now.
But i do conceed that i'm probably better off keeping my cash in the bank for the time being.
Thanks to all for your thoughts

Don't be sensible and buy a or rent a normal car....Do be sensible and DON'T buy a Maserati even if it is only for 6 months, you'll never see it. It will be full of water in the winter and in the dealership 4 out of the 6 months at least......A complete pile of poo and take it from me, I know.

Buy an M3 and make sure it's an SMG. I've had a manual, hard work and SMG which was awesome, SMG made it a different car. Changed that for the 996 TT but still kind of miss the M3 for it's hooligan attitude although the wife is pleased I can now turn my cap around.
