Just been phoned by my OPC & told their first 997GT3's won't arrive until January 07!! Seems strange that the first RHD UK cars won't be delivered until 5 months after official launch, he says they will be in very limited supply!

Has anyone else had a definite delivery date (rather than "possible maybe" dates!)quoted from their OPC, if so what are you looking at?
Thanks chaps.

Some story now doing the rounds that production of LHD versions has been set back. As a result the rhd was bound to suffer.

I was quoted for a March build last week.

That sounds bad! Only yesterday had call from dealer v. confident that I'd have my car v.early Sept. - it's their first one. Have put a call in to my Porsche contact. Will report back!

Grant, are you second in line at Cambridge by any chance?

I received confirmation of Sept build/Oct delivery only last week.

This would be my OPCs first 997 GT3.

Hi Atomic, I don't really want to say which dealer it is, but why do you ask if I'm second in line for Cambridge, have you got an order in with them?

OPC still sticking to Sept. delivery (or end Aug. if factory collection). Not heard back from Porsche contact yet.

I did notice they had 2 slots one in Dec and Jan and they were both taken....

PM me if you want to go into more detail?

Been following Gt3 threads for some while. Got call from opc regarding my build date yesterday. June 07 !

Some threads say Opc's are still offering cars much quicker than this, can this be correct ?

Do you know where you are on his list - my OPC says he's been allocated one a month from Sept. so that would put you at no.ten if your dealer has same allocation. Does that sound right?

I think most dealers are getting less allocation than that - certainly at outset.

When I spoke with my OPC they had three build slots confirmed. One for Sept, one for Oct and one for Jan. This situation may improve as Porsche admitted that the lack of confirmed build slots was making it difficult to get prospective buyers to make the £10k commitment.

Obviously you will get a clearer update from the horses mouth at the Thruxton launch.

Keep pestering your OPC and you might find that, if they get any extra allocation, you'll get an earlier build date.

Heard back from Porsche. My man now says first cars will 100% def. be built Sept. A few being delivered end Sept. most early Oct. Also says expect to have PCCBs pushed really hard at Thruxton event.

Actually, I am completely open minded about the latest generation of PCCBs, which I understand incorporate a number of improvements in terms of weight saving, durability, cooling and brake distribution.

Although I won't be there on the Saturday, it will be interesting to see what Porsche have to say, particularly when pressed, on the durability issues.

I know a lot of people would prefer to dismiss PCCBs because of costs, but I'm sure the new GT3 will be a 'better' all round car with them.

Can we get GuyR and Henry along as guests?

Should liven things up when the subject is raised.
