Is the 997 Sat Nav better than 996, the SAT Nav in my turbo wasn't great.
Especially when you compare it to the latest generation Garmin Nuvi's with 3d mapping, street level Europe, talks road names etc etc.
Steve, the Sat-Nav in the 997 is an improvement in what you used to have... mainly it is a bit quicker and it has the traffic-master information - other than that a late version of Tom-Tom et al - is a better system.
It epends on how much you like prefer the 'Intergrated' Porsche unit as opposed to a 'Stick-On' Jobbie.

IMHO the 997 one is way superior to what the 996 used to have. The old system took decades to calculate the route be it at starting the oute or when being forced to take a detour. With the new system it's just punching in the address and off you go. And luckily it now tends to acutally take the fastest route and uses a single DVD compared to the CD disk jockeying required in the 996. Maybe not better than stick-on's - which I never used - but massively better than the old model.
