Facelift C2 '01
===============
I've been using the PCM phone with a vodaphone Sim for a few months now and has worked great. Even got Vodaphone to set me up with a multi-sim so I didn't have to switch the sim from handheld to car every time I got in it.

BUT.... I just changed to Orange and the new Orange Sim don't work. Spoke to Porsche main dealer; "Pre '03 PCMs will NOT work with Orange"

Has anyone come across this b4 and what have they found to be a workaround (short of going back to vodaphone !)

They're the wrong frequency for orange & Tmobile. 900MHz rather than 900/1800/1900 triband like most modern phones. No work around I'm afraid Most carphones are five years behind the times, Maserati handsfree (robbed out of the Alfa 166 I think) doesn't even take mini-sims

Paul - How did you get a duplicate SIM, I asked Vodafone and they said that it was not possible to have 2?

it's known as their 'Multi-Sim' scheme. I'm a business user (perhaps that made a difference). My business has (had) a few phones on Vodaphone Connect. Our FC got onto them and arranged it. He probably pushed them a little bit. Took a week or two to receive the 2nd sim and never received the formal instructions. Got it to work successfully however.

Multi-Sim seems to be a little-known service even within Vodaphone themselves.

On a similar note - I've been trying to order am 03PCM system to retro-fit to my 03 Boxster S. Wanted it originally in the car but Porsche wouldn't sell it to me as apparently "software problems" meant it didn't work.

So I found it on the Porsche site as a Tequipment item. I called Porsche AFN Guildford. Lester kindly listened to my request and then phoned round Porsche for me to find out:

1) It CAN be retrofitted to any 03 car. THere was some doubt but there you go...
2) I can't have one because they don't have any in stock and have no idea when they might get one.

I'm calling back today to find out IF they can sell me one how much it would be....

I'm going on a touring holiday in June and if I have to put up with the wife's map reading for two weeks it'll be divorce for sure....

I'm trying to get this, but having problems

It's particularly infuriating, because Vodafone Germany (previously Mannesmann) has been offering this free of charge for close to 10 years now.
