How many of you also considered a 996 GT2 instead of the 997 RS? Why did you go for the RS instead? - engine note / newer shape?
Still no date for GT2 yet....
It will no doubt be another monster machine, but the RS will be a more tactile and
focused track machine, and in many peoples hands still quicker, due to the linear
power delivery of the engine....

Sorry kingb but until you get to drive a 911 you won't get it. If you are ever lucky enough to do so then you'll be hooked. I have a mate thats specced black with orange and it does look the nuts. I don't know how far removed this is from the supercup car other than they weigh around 1100kg and sequential gearbox but at the beginning of this year another mate bought the 997 supercup car and was testing it at snetterton on knackered old slicks in cold weather. It was doing the same times as his 996 GT3RS race car (not the road car). I've yet to drive one but those that have say that they are far removed from the 996 supercup car. If the 997GT3RS can live up to this then it will be an unbeatable track day car. 996 GT2's won't stand a hope in hell.

I recall an old 993GT2 road car not clubsport spec absolutely spanking the best (S.R) of the GT3 RS boys at Spa so lets not be too hasty....also must remember the tyre technology ever moving on...

I'd be 1st to admit, those bloomin' 993 GT2's are mega quick .....
A well sorted one around Spa in the right hands is untouchable IMO.
Think this is due to it being a bit more of a power circuit however which suits the
Mega Torque of the 993...things are a lot closer on the twisties imo
I think the new RS will close the gap a bit.
(with a gooddriver though)

100K is a lot of money for a steel car.
Porsche need to think long and hard about moving to aluminium at that price.

Eh ??
It has Ali Bonnet and doors.....
How much is a 430 nowdays ?????????????
G.
Nope,
The 996RS has Carbon Bonnet, the 997 has Ali.....
G.
I thought the GT3 RS had a carbon bonnet???
It has aluminium doors and bonnet, Carbon fibre seats, Rear lid, Air Intakes, Wing and plastic rear window.
