Hi

How long should a clutch last?

Have a 996 2001 C4 Cab.

Some judder on pickup and it seems to be slipping a bit, or is it me?

coming up to 24k,do not use it for track days or mad starts away from lights!

Advice please.

Clutch on our Chimaera is going to need replacing - at about 40,000 miles.

Yours *should* be going strong still I'd have said. Still. A new clutch isn't the end of the world. Have you had your OPC/Specialist take a look?

Know of a guy who bought a 944 new and covered 180,000 miles with the original clutch. It was still fine when he sold it.

I guess clutch wear really is down to mechanical sympathy.
In your case I suppose something had not been fitted correctly at the factory or maybe the previous owner had never driven a manual before.

C'est incredible!

My pig's on it's original clutch too, albeit after a relatively paltry 36k miles, although several thousand of these latterly with a little more strain than normal on the plates..

(Makes you realise just how crap Lambo clutches must be.)

I managed 45K out of my stock-ish 993TT before the clutch needed replacing. OPC reckoned this was fairly good mileage for a 4WD motor and had seen many need replacing after just 5-10K if they'd been hammered.
